Go to your walet location

C:\Users\"Your username"\AppData\Roaming\Zen

Delete all files inside except

wallet.dat
zen.conf
peers.dat

And start wallet again, you need to resync

Mac OS: ~/Library/Application Support/Zen/

To make sure your ZEN is not lost, the most important thing is to keep a backup copy of your wallet.dat file - it must never be lost! It may be copied manually when the GUI wallet/zend are not running. The wallet.dat needs to be backed up regularly (not just once - say after every 30-40 outgoing transactions) and it MUST also be backed up after creating a new Z address. "

Here is one interesting question, and answer from developer i think it is very useful, so I'm posting it here:

can I upgrade my current Swing with new one without dling and syncing blockchain all over?
So I just need to copy the new files to my current folder with old Swing, right?

A:

It is not necessary to unzip the new wallet version you downloaded over the old one (to overwrite it). You can just unzip it in a new location and run it. ... having backed up the wallet.dat as mentioned baove.
