A mod stated that there is a 99% of faucet shutdown so I trust that it will be gone. I've already posted my solutions but they went unheard - as for the come along and bleed him dry yeah in the beginning there was that possibilty, he took a risk and it paid off.

So the decision has been made already, just not implemented yet, am I right?

No decisions on faucet change has been made yet, everyone is still tossing out suggestions it seems though.

1. I've been high rolling for a while now and the "chat quality" has not been an issue for me or any other HR, I would know because I've been on PD everyday ever since I joined.

2. 50+ emails a day is "not a massive deal" says Stunna, which I take could be managed.

3. The forum ranks has nothing to do with the credibility of the gambler. I have a shitty rank here but on PD I would consider myself a maxed level "crocodile".

The funny thing is, most of the people who complained about faucet and wants it remove DONT EVEN GAMBLE! They don't even deposit but yet they want to take something away that most other  REAL gamblers enjoy.

A true story about the faucet from my own experience >> I introduce a friend shortly after I got hooked on dicing >> She has no idea what dicing is, she only knows blackjack >> she first found the site to be BORING and lacking of the fun factor >> she discovers faucet and learned how to dice >> she made a deposit and so far wagered more than 20 BTC. Her goal is to get to level 40.

Take away the faucet and you take away stories like that. This is how I also remember my first experience with PD so that makes two.
Woooooo hey Earth Cheesy! Still missing my 50k Wink
Totally agree with you, people get hooked via the faucet.

The problem is the leechers who never deposit, can be solved by removing chat leveling faucet and instead increase the wagered leveling a lot, look at the people who have claimed 1000+ times without a single deposit and ban them constantly - "hire" more mods or similar who can spot them early on after the ton of leechers has been banned and problem is more or less solved.

Stunna & Crew -- Here's my idea regarding the current faucet and how it could change for the better.  It's a difficult one for me to explain, so hopefully its understood what my idea is.

  • Allow users to have a "faucet address" that they can deposit to.
  • There is a max amount of BTC that can be requested from this address (say, ~5,000-10,000 sats) every 60 seconds.  So I deposit .01 BTC that'll keep me good for 200 faucet claims at 5,000 sats a claim.
  • If you withdraw from this address, you relinquish your ability to claim a faucet.
  • Levelling at the site can act as  "interest accrued" and your faucet balance can be increased simply by playing more
  • The higher the balance you have in this account, the more interest you accrue.  Kind of similar to investing in the bankroll, but not attached to the bankroll
  • Lower level (first timer) accounts can automatically get 5,000 sats deposited to this account with a 250 sat limit.  Again, leveling helps increase the amount claimable

Obviously there's a lot more ideas that could revolve around this that I haven't listed, but it's just an idea that can be built upon.   Or shunned as being fucking retarded.  You decide.

I don't really understand your idea.

I don't really understand your idea.

Let me try a narrative, throwing in some rough figures just to illustrate.

It's my first day logging onto Primedice, and I decide to claim my faucet ration, which can only be claimed once per month per user.  I now have 5,000 satoshi's in my faucet balance, and am able to claim 250 satoshi's from this balance once every 60 seconds.  I'm imaging a small cup animation, showing you how much you have remaining -- I've seen those on other dice sites.

As we know, the only way to level is to chat, wager more BTC, refer more people, etc.  As your level rises from these tactics, your interest rate return on this faucet balance increases (based on how much the balance is).  As such, it is in your best interest to use the faucet as sparingly and wisely as possible.  You can also deposit up to 0.1 BTC into this faucet balance to use for faucet claims, should the initial 5,000 satoshi stipend be used up.  There is still a limit of 250 - 10,000 satoshis that can be claimed from this (based on levelling).

It's a bit of a ridiculous idea, but since the general population is so ridiculously upset over the faucet possibly being removed, why not give the faucet a bit more pizzazz instead of just throwing a captcha at it to throw you some sats?  I say you make it fun and rewarding to play.

If this idea still doesn't make sense, then I don't know how to explain it further.  Maybe somebody else can dwell on it, or I'll just shutter the idea as useless drivel and move on.

stunna, i met this site while fauceting at the start of bitcoin life, the fact that there was a faucet made me able to use the site until i struck gold
i have wagered 7 bitcoins on two accounts
if there is no faucet, the site wont be sustainable
the whales arent going to be around forever and without a faucet, not many people will use the site as i have and become whales as they get lots of bitcoins
KEEP THE FAUCET

At the end of the day the world isn't perfect and life isn't fair. PD is a business. But this issue isn't about the BTC being spent, hence why Stunna is asking for suggestions to replace it. It's about the phenomenon of a particular demographic of the BTC community leading to two main things:

  • A lot of the people who show up on the HR list frequently dislike speaking in chat due to the spam they receive asking for BTC/tips. Even those who do speak in chat get VERY pissed off by it. I have spoken to a HR who got very pissed off when people who he had already tipped started asking him for more BTC.
  • The support spam. It is not as simple as "let one of the mods deal with it". It is not professional, it is not reliable as they're volunteers, and it's not fair on the mod. Hence why Admins deal with support and the Mods just tell people to go to the Admins - they're the guys who can actually help you. Admins have a large toolbox and can answer pretty much 100% of support emails. Mods...nope.

The surge of people complaining about this possible change proves my point. Slight note, I've only seen 1 person who is Full Member+ and is against the removal of faucet.

1. I've been high rolling for a while now and the "chat quality" has not been an issue for me or any other HR, I would know because I've been on PD everyday ever since I joined.

What I mean by removing is that the leechers will be gone. They have no buissness here anymore, so they go look elsewhere.

You say that as if it is a bad thing. It isn't.

The site would be better without the constant begging and complaining.

Honestly, I feel like a removal of the faucet would lead to more begging and complaining in chat. Without the faucet, other players are the only readily available source of free btc, so they will turn to them.

Chat mods work without pay, don't they? Rules are already in place for begging. ETA: No, that's not quite true. They work on a weird performance tip system, so burdening them with enforcing anti-begging rules constantly being broken might still be costly.

Yeah , we don't get paid . But its true that we do usually get more and bigger tips than others on chat. Usually as a "thank you for keeping chat enjoyable "

I think that there are very very few whales that started out with the faucet. My point is that for me, and i'm not a whale, the amount you can bet with the faucet just doesn't do it for me in terms of gambling buzz. I'd rather deposit 0.1 to try out a site then use the faucet. Furthermore, most dice sites do just fine without faucet and still attract the whales (see just-dice). That being said, I am in favor of a faucet but just not for the reason you're advocating.

As far as I see it, the only people who wouldn't like this idea are the freeloaders who wouldn't deposit their own money anyways, and ultimately don't contribute to the site.

I will say my opinion thinking as if I am in Stunnas position, that is, the owner of a commercial site, even if it is not the best for me personally.

I think the faucet should stay, because it is good for business, but with certain changes.

1) if you deposited at least once, the faucet for you works exactly as today. You are a paying customer.

2) if you are a newbie, you start with faucet same as is today, but as each day ends if you dont make a deposit
the time between faucets increases. That way, if you are only leeching Primedice, after a few days time between faucets increases to 1 hour for example, so it is just no more feasible to be the whole day lurking and accumulating faucets. If it is just for testing features, its good enough.

Mails to support containing the word "faucet" are filtered, dont know if to resent them to the chat moderators or just answer to look in the FAQ, that by the way, need a good rework because its incomplete.

in my country 0.1 is a month's pay
will say no more
edit: i can no longer see just-dice
