So I received a fake email apparently from "Cavirtex Support (info@cavirtex.com" earlier today with what is likely a virus attached to it.

The subject line was: [cavirtex.com.com] Invoice Payment (#4142)‏ and the email was as follows:

1 attachment (125.5 KB)
Download invoice_4142.jar (125.5 KB)
invoice_4142.jar
Download
Download as zip

Invoice Payment

Thank you for using Cavirtex. Wish you have a happy time here!

Regards
Cavirtex Support.

I haven't used them in a while and the writing of the email just looks suspicious.  Just figured I'd give others a heads up.  Has anyone else received this email yet?

A bunch of emails were sent out and a few notices to avoid it
Some malware phishing attempt to get peoples Bitcoins

Sept. 23, 2014, 6:33 p.m. - CAVIRTEX users getting spammed with invoice.jar again

CAVIRTEX customers are getting spammed with another round of the infamous "invoice.jar" remote access trojan (RAT) malware. DO NOT OPEN THE ATTACHMENT. Previous analysis of the malware by CAVIRTEX showed that the malware could automatically hunt down bitcoin, litecoin, and other cryptocurrency wallets, automatically sending them to the attacker. The malware also allows an attacker to gain full control of the victim's system. This includes logging the password of users while accessing their CAVIRTEX account.

The malware works on both Windows and Linux systems.

The message has a spoofed From field to make it appear as if it were coming from us. We did not send this email.

To help prevent the spread of this email, if possible please mark the message as spam with your email provider.

Right, I vaguely remember getting the email.  I expected to get an email right around when the warning was issued, not 3 weeks later or so.  Good thing it was a poorly written email so it was pretty easy to spot.  Then again, I don't trust any email that I receive that comes with an attachment.  See so many scams come through email these days.

Any word from cavirtex on how their customer email db got out?  Grin

Now that would be interesting.  Does Cavirtex wish to respond to this question?  What other information was possibly leaked?

Anyone aware of this alleged class action against CAVirtex regarding the way shares were handled during the delisting from Havelock?

I'm surprised this is only being posted here now if the deadline to get a claim in by is November 1st.

It only recently came to my attention.  Site was registered in August.  Further, there are no details on that site that imply it's being backed by a legitimate lawyer/law firm.   I have no idea if it's legitimate or a ruse to gain shareholder details for ulterior (nefarious?) motives.

All I see is some written article made 5 hours ago from Crytocoinnews
In other words not a really reliable source here.
Which then got aggregated through all the other sites hmm approach with caution.

Cavirtex is a safe place to trade and exchange Bitcoins
They went to the Canadian senate so probably and are one of the most vocal exchanges in Bitcoin legislation
But as usual trust is subjective, but in my opinion at this particular point in time they are very safe to trade with.

How long are interac deposits supposed to take?  Last time I deposited with interac it was instant.  This time it has been over an hour and no update(deposited after 5pm, bank closed).  Is this normal? Does interac online process when bank is closed?

Good.  While I own shares of CaVirtex, they won't accept my passport for verification so I've had to relocate to somewhere that does...  VoS.
