I'm very interested in this project. I have several websites but I really hate advertising, so I'm looking forward to trying Oyster to monetize the sites.

I love the concept but worry about uptake and privacy?
Have subscribed as would love to keep in the loop to see how this is adopted by the market.
Thanks
What concerns do you have about privacy? Anonymous decentralized storage leads to greater data privacy as a website no longer has to trust a decentralized source for data storage while reducing the influence of advertisers should lead to less data gathering as data gathering is primarily used by advertisers. As for concerns about user letting Oyster use the clients machine resources - this is a concern with any peer to peer technology and but has not stopped the progression and evolution of robust and secure peer to peer networks. For example, there were concerns about Ethereum's virtual machine. Like the other serious decentralized storage contenders the source code is being made public and will be reviewable by the community and if there are problems so be it. I am assuming Oyster will be an 'opt in' situation (or one where they have to install something) for those who want to use it rather than forcing those who don't to opt out which would let users choose the risk.

Readed the whitepaper, its impressive and I got to read it 1 or 2 times more to understand the whole concept.
A question what i didn't find or understand in the whitepaper is where all the data is storages.

The data will be stored on the IOTA tangle. The clients are used for interaction with the tangle. The tangle has some scalability challenges ahead but is one possible decentralized storage solution. Oyster combines IOTA tangle for storage with and Ethereum token to pay people who interact with the tangle on behalf of website hosts to store their data. Am I understanding somewhat correctly?

Thank for explain, grants a parallel revenue stream to websites by adding one line of code, Just watch their video , Finally I understand what is oyster, iota - oyster - , interest oyster project right now , invest some token to hold for long term 👍

Finally an ICO worth investing in. Truly a WIN-WIN solution that breaks the stalemate between advertisers and ad blockers. The core team behind this project has tremendous experience in this environment and further boosts my confidence in this project. I can’t wait to be part of this exciting revolution.

At first, I was not too thrilled with the name chosen, but now I find it suiting! What would be more fitting than an oyster to contain your jewels? I have never felt safe with cloud storage. Especially sending my sensitive documents and fun photos that my girlfriend sends me to big players like apple. Too often do we see storages hacked and photos leaked. I have large holdings and belief in Iota and Ethereum. I trust it Vitalik Buterin and am glad to see this as a contract on the Ethereum blockchain. Files moving to storage will be insanely fast and cheap once running on Iotas tangle. The anonymity and peer to peer upkeep of Oyster bring ease to mind about the thought of storing my Independent business documents in. Very happy to be alerted of this product through airdropalert.com. Will be putting a few of my ether in this one bois

Holy moly that red hurts my eyes. I agree that oyster is a nice project trying to break the monopoly these advertisers have on the internet revenue at the moment

The main idea behind this concept is easy to grasp as it relates with how we all activate adblockers on our phone and personal computers' browser. creative content publishers are suffering due to the advent of ad blockers and a general disregard to what advertisements have to offer. Advertisements have always been a fundamentally weak proposition. They are intrusive, tangential, privacy invasive, and distract from the cleanliness of a website. This blockchain has been created to curb this issue.
I wish the team success on this project.

I really love the idea! I even can use in my own websites. However, It reminds me the tv show Silicon Valley, which the last chapter of last seasons they used their compress technology on every smart machine. That reduce all prices. Well, it looks like the same idea but this one more then a TV Show it is real! I want to learn does oyster use too much effort on web nodes. For a website owner, all we have to do is add the script. But on the other hand, who comes to our website will mine for us. If they realized they are mining for us with too much effort for their machines, they won't come to us again. So can someday tell me about this?
But as I said before, the idea was brilliant.

Sillicon valley is an awesome show! One of my favorites at the moment. Your statement made me think of a question when will there be a beta or alpha version of Oyster? Might be interested to try it out

There might be some stages of adjustment to reach optimal parameters. As for the burdening of nodes : I can guarantee you that almost everyone out there has some extra computational resources - Oyster would need to limit itself to a reasonable portion of these unused resources. The only considerations I can think of is the cost of electricity for the user. Will having an ad free experience be worth this cost for users? As for the website owners Oyster won't necessarily need to generate the same amount as ads because there are other benefits to an ad free experience, but it will have to generate a significant amount.

Over and above, this project has kept 5% reserve for Marketing Fund and 15% as Dev fund. Remaining all is being distributed. Appears to be proper long term roadmap for the success. Awaiting to see its future listings and adoption by major MNCs. With advertising sector being one of the most potential one, this should be soon adopted by many MNCs... Cheers
