It was such a great idea surely it will give you a fortune in 2-3 years. Long term investment in cryptocurrency is the best choice than to save your money in the bank. Though i am not familiar in investing other altcoins. I will just suggest you to buy ethereum, it is such a potential altcoins next to bitcoins.

Holding your altcoin in 2-3years is good idea since the value is increasing, but I think its depend of the coin you holding because some of them are mostly depend in higher rate of people who using it. So if your going to hold pick the best one altcoin. But if you know and you feel that your coin has potential to grow then hold it. But its depends to you if you try some other altcoin or just stick to your choosen coin to hold because I believed all altcoin have potential to increase its value when the time past by.

Just hold BTC and ETH for the long term > 3 years and alter coins for the short term. I like OMG, but I think it's something for a year, as this is the one to go with the next stage of Ethereum/Plasma rollout. But Ethereum will move on, new products will come up and new coins will come too. Eventually value are added to the main chain, which is ethererum for smart contract and BTC for value storage.

The best altcoin to hold in the next 2 to 3 year is waves. Because waves has also a smart contract and built in exchanger like etherdelta on ethereum. It means waves platform is all set. If you take a look on coinmarketcap the value of waves is very cheap now. Last year the value of ethereum is very cheap also and they have also almost the same supply. This is only my opinion regarding the best to hold for years.
