Really? Ive done much better on my alt coins I bought 5 months ago than holding bitcoin. Of coarse they are about 50% from their peaks still way more % up than if I held bitcoin. I guess if you got into alts the last couple months it has been a little rough.

Sometimes I wish I never hoop ed into altcoin business too. But I cannot deny that its all my fault. I kept chosing wrong, bad altcoins to invest until I learned to choose better ones. I guess patience is the key.

Yeah you are right but every altcoin is falling down now.
After hardfork or segwit2x, all altcoins will rise. So this is time to buy some good altcoins

Sir it's not bad at all to invest on altcoins. It just that you have no luck on altcoins. There are so much altcoins out there and they have different prize. Should you invest it to top 10 altcoins in the market. Altcoins is not suck you just have no perseverance on reviewing those altcoins.

That's also because of the bitcoin fork. People think they need to hold BTC now to get free Bitcoin gold and therefore dump their alts. I guess after the fork, we will see a shift of investment from BTC back to alts again.

It seems to be a strong reason caused by they are all still holding their bitcoin now. This just repeat the previous history on the middle of the august. I believe altcoin will have made very big comback. But i don't know when but it seems to be true.
With the potentially of the altcoin itself.

This thing is really possible which we did already witness this kind of pullback on altcoins price after the fork which people would really go back to alts after they did get their free money on those free coins which can be attained on the fork. This is just a common thing to think off.If bitcoins price tends to go up then most of the alts are on reds but not all.You should not get upset or stressed too much on alt movement and just dont panic sell.

Yup,we should set our mind if we really want to earn we should try to do long term investments. We might not panic when things went the way we don't want it to be. Alts have their own time and it will definitely reach it soon.

In short we do really need to accept the risk specially if we do decide on engaging on altcoin then we should really be ready on the things that might happen.We do know theres only two outcome either a loss or profits.Its just like that actually.Giving up on earlier times or on few tries isnt really suggested better to analyze on whats wrong with the trades you did.

I quite feel you since I also been a vitctim of some shitcoins , but not all altcoins are like that I also have some good profit with many altcoins out there specifically on ethereum , you just have to some intensive research risk wil always be there but if you pick the right coin then surely you will have a nice profit

I'm in the same boat right now, but I've just been getting in to trading altcoins as a hobby for a week now. I'm viewing my initial losses as the cost of learning (definitely made a few boneheaded mistakes already), but I think with time I will be able to recoup and maybe even make a little extra.

Not at all, you just need to be vigilant so you would know when to convert and when will you buy back again.

Or just buy and hodl coins that belong to projects that are bound to survive for many years and don't worry about swing trading (which isn't something inexperienced people will be successful with).

Well it depends on when do you buy

If you are saying and comparing 7-8 year ago when other coins and btc are almost in the same nominal value, yea bitcoin is a good hold.

But if you are referring to the recent few years, altcoins are still a good hold because of the high profitability multiplier

I hold Iconomi 1 year ago and sold it x10 in a year time.

There are some other ICO that actually went close to x20 (Neblio) within just 1-2 month

You gotta find the gem yourselves because gems are hidden

altcoins have a high risk/high reward possibility, but it can go south very fast. But if you do your own research and invest slowly, you should be fine

that's right if you now when to sell it out and when to buy it back to continue profits then you are still in good position, alts are good in time when btc
are really jumping high so when correction happen its time for alts to regain the value and you will gain as well from your holdings.

Important, you need to spend a long time to wait the price of altcoin recover. But I can not understand the onwer of this thread, why do he not ready with this situation? As me, I prepare all and today, I still holding my altcoins without any problem, maybe sometimes I feel tired because I missed many chances.
