Can anyone explain to me why 'core' is against this development.   Mining with GPU seems such a good thing to do that I don't understand why it wasn't just incorporated into Bitcoin.
If that had happened it would be so much simpler.   I don't understand why this idea had to get a fork to be realized.
Someone please enlighten me Huh

Every time there is a fork, it dilutes the true value of Bitcoin.  Segwit2X will make 3 forks in 4 months?   Its out of control.

That what most people don't realize. It robs value from Bitcoin in a sense, giving it to those few who dump them when the price is at is peak.

I think that GPU mining is very good for the community. Just because almost everyone can try to mine it.

Waiting for the Bitcoin Platinum, Bitcoin Diamond and so on with another GPU-friendly algo's.

I am waiting for the Bitcoin gold fork without the premine, apparently some devs are going to put out a competing client.

Premine makes this version crap, no justification for instant dev millions for a code tweak, and likelihood of dump is almost certainty.

This thread is supposed to be about DECENTRALIZATION.

I'm not really interested in posts saying crap, scam, premine, shitcoin: without some logical explanation of the reasoning.   Even then it would be nice if it had some relevance to the title of the thread.

GPU mining promotes decentralization.   Appears to me that 'core' are opposed to this.   WHY?

Really appreciate it if someone could fill in the bits( Grin) I'm missing.

i agree with you, the reason is some people hate these forks, and they forget they are claiming free money.

How much is premined?

i'm sure they won't tell us how many coins are premined, like bitcoin cash till now we don't know how much they got premined coins.
these forks gives only shit coins, the only good one thing is we get free extra money, i hope we don't see many coins like this because these coins will kill the original bitcoin if this stupid forks coins will continue.

How can any fork kill bitcoin? Are you delusional?

If somebody thinks bitcoin is more decentralized if mined only with GPU:s that's their opinion and they're free to fork bitcoin as many times as they want.

I'm only a newbie, so must be way off...
There is definitely something fishy about BTC core and Asics manufacturers... Or maybe BTC is turning into a coin for the elite?

i agree with jukKas.
bitcoin still bitcoin, and they are forking it because it is the source and lead.

we should be happy because these forks are giving us free money, and we can see they never effects to bitcoin price more than 2 days before and after the fork.

Core opposes everything that could lead to losing their power on Bitcoin, so in case they would need to change PoW (which is unlikely imo), GPU mining could be their competition just like Bitcoin Cash competes for SHA hash power. For Core proponents anything that comes from them is Bitcoin, and everything else is altcoin. For instance, I'm pretty sure they would be against increasing 21 million coins cap if it was someone else's idea, but if they came up with this by themselves, then it would certainly be still Bitcoin.

As bitcoin expands into additional layers those layers are bitcoin as well! It's an aggregate ecosystem.

Bittrex will add Bitcoin Gold (BTG) based on your available balance into your wallet. While for Electrum wallet your probably are holding private keys and those will be used to claim BTG. I will recommend to let the network and things stable before taking action. Everything will be explained in simple later.

Well not all exchanges - not yet at least.
Bittrex, although they said they would, have not yet credited anyone with there Bitcoin Gold. I had Bitcoin on Bittrex and HitBTC; HitBTC have credited me with Bitcoin Gold but Bittrex has not.
