For anyone stuck syncing their wallet. Create a runme.bat file in the bitcoin gold folder using the following, then save as a .bat file and run

bitcoin-qt.exe -server
addnode=109.192.23.101
...snip...
addnode=143.207.67.209

I just put all of this in the configuration file except for the "bitcoin-qt.exe -server" part, restart the qt and it started syncing.

This worked for me too.

This did not work for me. I've tried the suggested method(s), on a Windows 7 x64 and a Windows 10 x64 PC and it still won't work.
During installation I selected different folder for the chain folder as the default location did not have enough space - could this be the problem ?

I also have a custom location for my chain folder but it worked fine (Win10 x64).

anyone tried to do deposit on exchanges?

Most are disabled, im also trying to find one where the deposits are enabled

it's because they don't want that the bitcoin holder dump their free bitcoin gold, it will be like bitcoin cash, they will enable it when ready, after initial trading are done

No this should not have any impact.

All I know is I was stuck on syncing for 8 years, I went to tools in the wallet, edited the configuration file, added the list of nodes as so:

addnode=109.192.23.101
addnode=143.207.67.209
...

Closed the configuration file, quit the wallet, launched it again and it started to sync.

Might want to try and deactivate windows defender/firewall on your windows 10 to see if it makes a difference.

that makes no sense, if thats the reason the guys will dump when the exchanges open deposits anyway, doesnt matter if its a day or a month. In the meantime we that mine have no idea what the price will do and cant trade as we mine, so if it launches on an exchange the price might be so low that we mined at a huge loss

I have a question is why they had the premine in the pool?
Is the bitcoin gold was fork from the Bitcoin?why they can premine?

I had Bitcoin on Bittrex during the snapshot for the Bitcoin Gold fork, I've just logged in to my Bittrex account and they still have not credited me with the BTG they said they would, they also are not trading BTG. Maybe when things settle down a bit Bittrex will give us our promised BTG.

The real action will start when Bittrex and other big exchanges will start enabling trading for BTG in coming weeks. It will not take too long as they have showed willing and statement that everyone will receive forked coins next step will be to see them being traded openly.

I am trying to use the official BitCoin Gold wallet, from here https://github.com/BTCGPU/BTCGPU/releases . However it does not connect to peers to even begin the 8 years of syncing it needs to do. "0 connections to bitcoin network" This is the official developer one linked from their website https://bitcoingold.org/downloads/

Anyone else know of way to actually use a WINDOWS wallet or make this one work ? Do I need to manually add peers to the config file?

Bitcoin Gold Wallet fix.

For those of you still having problems getting the Bitcoin Gold wallet to sync I figured out why my wallet was not syncing, hope this helps some of you who are also having that sinking feeling Smiley

The "bitcoin.conf" file must be in the "chain" folder.

(1) Create the bitcoin.conf file and put it in the chain folder
(2) Start bitcoin-qt.exe with the "-server" switch, use a batch file for this, and put batch file in same folder as bitcoin-qt.exe (may need to run it as Admin).

Note: I tried the suggestion of combining the "bitcoin-qt.exe -server" switch with the bitcoin.conf file but it did not work for me.

Example BTG.bat file:
Code:
bitcoin-qt.exe -server

Example bitcoin.conf file:
Code:
addnode=109.192.23.101
addnode=88.99.5.24
addnode=164.132.164.49
addnode=91.224.140.216

addnode=176.107.192.240
addnode=93.85.135.35
addnode=46.188.16.96

EDIT:
If you are unsure where the chain folder is, or if it has a different name, then in the wallet select 'Settings' 'Options' 'Open Configuration File' (open with notepad) and add the nodes there and just select 'Save' and it will save to correct location.
