When network goes live it will probably be shortly before and yes you can solo mine if you wish to

Solo won't ever be feasible unless you have a huge mine some pools are already set up to switch all users over as soon as network is live

since it's a fork from the the bitcoin network the same rules apply 12.5 BTG until the halving around 2020 then 6.25 BTG for the next 4 years then 3.125 for 4 years that follow that etc etc

I think bitcoin gold will fly to moon like what happen bitcoin cash when investors focus this project,  just hold btg and wait for that .

This is just hope there are so big whales are involved behind the epic pump but unfortunately there is news about that coin. I think this is good to take profit but this really difficult to predict at this stage.
