The block halving happens at 800,000 blocks. As of this post, we're on block #794,301.

Code:
int64 static GetBlockValue(int nHeight, int64 nFees)
{
    int64 nSubsidy = 100 * COIN; // Florincoin: 100 (Litecoin: 50)

    // Subsidy is cut in half every 800000 blocks
    nSubsidy >>= (nHeight / 800000); // Florincoin: 800k blocks in ~1 years

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}

So flo is going down to 50 coins per block for the next year?

Not bad.  12.5 would have been even better.  Wink

Anyone selling a large amount of FLO?

Not again.

What is it with these huge buyers of flo?

And if you want it that badly why don't you bid it up a bit, it's down 60% in the last 2 weeks.

Cheers!

can live with 16/block

lol, I can live with 16 but these devs apparently love inflation.  Flo has had enough fair and wide distribution, a subsidy reduction should happen sooner than later but I doubt that's gonna happen.

What?

Got a link?  I can't find any proof of this anywhere.

If true then it would explain the huge buyers lately.

Storj lead dev here. I'll address this directly. So we are using Florincoin in Metadisk. Before you go all pump and dump, note that this only temporary and we plan on using Factom when they are ready.

That's awesome news. The Florincoin dev team welcomes the Storj decentralized application onto the Florincoin blockchain. Reach out to skyangel or myself directly if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback.

Mind pinging us on our support email line hello@storj.io? Might be worth having a little chat with the team.

How have ASICs ruined scrypt. When new coins come out i often see 1 mil mh/s on all x algo coins. Anyone can now afford a scrypt asic and mine 100 mh/s you have to rent from a farm if you want 100 x algo mh/s. Scrypt coins have long term miners as the miners own the asics. x algo coins only get big miners when they are launched, once the diff goes up then they are left with all the home miners on small mh/s

Notice: Florincoin.info is down for maintenance.
This means the block explorer, testnet explorer, faucet, ticker, and other apps may not function properly while our server migration takes place. If this is causing a major disruption in service, please change your API calls from florincoin.info to aterna.org for the time being.

Has anyone heard any additional news regarding Storj's use of Florincoin? That's exciting stuff!
I've been chatting with the team at Storj, it's possible that the primary application being developed for Florincoin right now (Alexandria) will be deployed using Storj as the backend decentralized database. Currently the plan is to use torrent files to share data, but Storj may provide a better alternative.

Minor update: Nameservers have not fully propagated yet, in the interim you can use http://flocoin.org for API and block explorer functionality.
