Devon, metacoin... Thank you a lot guys for your updates. Awesome news and this project is really amazing, it's chasing the right and original ideology of what crypto was aimed to be [should be] and putting to full contribution the blockchain tech. I've read the roadmap a couple of times and can't wait to see this coming to life, as well as the api's that I will definitely play/work with I see we can support this development by donating and you've added all possible payment options for us I will make sure to contribute, even if little, I guess if we are many that do it, it all adds up and can do magic. I really hope you guys will also find few angels investors among the crypto enthusiasts that also believe in this Alexandria project. Cheers!

Quick question: Once this is hooked up with BitTorrent, will this really be possible to use without a central service? ie: videos can be shared and streamed P2P with a torrent link and never require any hosting It looks like the current Alexandria wallet is custom made HTML wallet and synchronizes with the Florin blockchain. So, this app currently requires no central servers whatsoever to function? This is very interesting, thanks for sharing.

Yes, the whole point is that it works without any servers. The lookup info that gets stored in the blockchain is simply the torrent hash. Right now, the client finds the file in the DHT using this hash - pretty soon we'll be adding some alexandria-specific torrent trackers to make peer discovery happen faster, so at that point there will be "servers" involved to an extent, but they wouldn't be required, just beneficial. And yes, the app is an HTML and JS front end, with a python and go backend, compiled into a standalone app with Node Webkit. And yes, it syncs with the florincoin wallet, which needs to be running as well. Later in our dev plan we'll be integrating the wallet itself into the Alexandria app so that users dont need to run the separate Florincoin-QT wallet as well.

First off, if you are in San Diego, you have company here in North County One more question for you Devon. Is Florincoin going to remain the defacto cryptocurrency for this project? If so, Florincoin is likely the most undervalued cryptocurrency in history of cryptos. I believe with an increasing market cap for FLO, it will be much easier to crowd-fund. Cheers, thanks This is kind of funny, but FLO is traded on Cryptsy in the LTC markets: https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/FLO_LTC This needs to be added to the BTC markets

I've been waiting for someone to build "Pirate Bay on a Blockchain"... But this needs to breakout in the "torrent community" as opposed to the "crypto community"... Get an article on TorrentFreak and promote on file-sharing forums. There is ongoing Total War on the torrent space from rich, fat Hollywood lawyers... (In spite of the fact that Hollywood has > $10 billion in revenues versus about $200 million for all torrent sites)... Build a toolkit so any torrent site can move quickly (in days) to Alexandria... as opposed to shutting down. You also are replacing a free add supported service... with pay-as-you go = may be some initial resistance.

Yep, this is a pretty radical concept and has some pretty crazy applications such as what you speak of. This is the advantage of using Florincoin actually. This way Blocktech has no financial connection to the network and can build the network without fear of the financial/legal issues related to token issuance and Torrent Bravo.

Content can be accessed for free, if the person that is paying to put the content into the Florin Blockchain wants it accessed for free. The fee system does not require a fee, and can even simply allow for suggested donations. Watch the video more closely. BTW, can we just call the Florincoin blockchain the "Flockchain" ?

Quick question: Once this is hooked up with BitTorrent, will this really be possible to use without a central service? ie: videos can be shared and streamed P2P with a torrent link and never require any hosting That's correct, it will be possible to use without a central service. Media is streamed directly from webtorrents and the blockchain is used as a ledger of publisher information and published media (including magnet URIs). It looks like the current Alexandria wallet is custom made HTML wallet and synchronizes with the Florin blockchain. So, this app currently requires no central servers whatsoever to function? Yep, exactly.

Can you explain how the exchange will happen. There was something said about being able to buy Florincoin with Bitcoin directly in the Alexandria wallet. How does this work? Shapeshift.io? APIs?

Initially we wanted to go thru shapeshift, but they said Florincoin didn't have enough volume to justify the effort to add it to their system, so we did it internally. It's a very simple process, just click "buy more" in the Alexandria wallet and a new btc address will be generated and provided to the user - a script watches the new address, and when a deposit comes into it, it looks up the exchange price, averaging the 3 current exchanges and sends flo to the users address. it's a 1-confirmation thing, so with BTC it should take 10-20 minutes to load up a wallet to be able to publish content.

That's awesome. Can't wait to check out the beta test! If you have time, keep us updated with screenshots and more info as you guys make progress This is obviously going to be translated into many languages (hopefully hundreds) at some point, will users be able to select a language in the Alexandria wallet down the road?

Yup. And display the exchange prices in whatever fiat they want as well.

Quick note about the Florincoin protocol: This protocol is stated to have a total coins of 160 million. However, the protocol doesn't appear to actually do that. This network will continue being mined long after 160 million coins are produced due to the protocol specifications: https://github.com/pascalguru/florincoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L839Just basic mathematics. MAX_MONEY= 160,000,000 https://github.com/pascalguru/florincoin/blob/master/src/main.h#L40However, this is not the actually maximum that will be produced by the network this is only the maximum that can be sent in a transaction. This is not a problem for the function of Alexandria, am I reading this code correctly or does this cap it off at 160,000,000 ? Or does this fix it? https://github.com/pascalguru/florincoin/blob/master/src/main.h#L526Reference: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=444775.0;wap2

This coin is gaining a lot of attention. Many people that would have not even given it a second look, are now mining it. Very nice revival. Great work. It would be REALLY nice to have a bootstrap.dat as the chain is so large or atleast many addnodes or better yet, both. Please post what you can to the op. Again, VERY nice work reviving an old coin, and VERY difficult to do, and you not only revived it, its VERY alive!!! NICE!!

I want to make sure everyone knows that I just released my software called "Yobit pump alert". THis is custom software that uses an algo to detect the start of a pump here on yobit, the second it starts. YOu can even filter the coins you see by price. Most pumps start less than 100 sats , so you can easily filter the cheap coins, so they are the only ones displayed https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1945937.msg20241953#msg20241953
