MEC is actually holding up quite well right now even with BTC skyrocketing. Some dumping but the order books are very, very thin on the sell side still (basically only a few BTC away from 10000). MEC could easily slide up the market cap charts into the top 10 with the way all the other alts are tanking. This could be a good opportunity to draw some interest to MEC if we can get the price up a bit.

I'm all tapped out of BTC at the moment but if anyone else wants to take up the task... Tongue
The sell side on most alts is weak, but there isn't someone willing to put 10 btc to boost the price..

Those accumulating won't want a higher price  Wink

Thank you! My thoughts exactly. The price of MΣC will go higher soon enough. For now we need to concentrate on services, and things that bring value to MΣC, then the price will go up naturally. In a few months there will be a lot of people wishing they had kept all their MΣC.  Wink

I really didn't think MEC would hold against this BTC rally, but it really is the The Little Engine That Could!  Grin

Looks like Anoncoin has copied the Kimoto Gravity Well code..  Cheesy

As there seems to be a recurring forking issue going on which we do not know the cause of we will be releasing a reworked version of the 0.7 branch instead of 0.8. The new 0.7 release will still include the kimoto gravity well difficulty algorithm.

Keep leading the pack Kimoto!

A little shock this morning when I checked CoinWars:

It was unfortunately an error - but hopefully a taste of things to come! Smiley

Just keep stocking up on the champagne. You'll need at least some for when we hit $1 million market cap. Smiley

$1 million in market cap will be a milestone for sure, but still chump change compared to Megacoin's destiny.
I believe we will see that number sooner than most expect.  Cool

Oh definitely... That's why I said to stock up on the champagne. Will need a lot more for the subsequent milestones. Tongue

As we speak MEC is already back on the move to the upside!

As I predicted, it looks like some of that overbought Bitcoin money is starting to flow back into MΣC. I thought they might see a new high... Maybe next time. It would be nice to see a new high for MΣC in the near future.

Crypty is still a mess right now -- unfortunately, it's the only place to trade MEC with any real volume. I went to go buy a pile of MEC last night and the whole system was down. Then today I placed a buy order and instead of scooping up all of the sell orders under my price...I paid the full price of my buy and it was only partially filled.

I'd say the smart play is to focus on mining and services until MEC hits a stable exchange and/or Cryptsy gets their act together.

To get on a proper exchange we need a higher market-cap and a higher value.  On top of that a bounty is needed I believe.
Right now MEC doesn't have enough of a market cap to support being listed on somewhere like BTC-E.  Currently FTC has a market cap of $1,600,000;
while MEC is at $255,000.  I think if we can get the market value to $500,000 minimum and have a bounty offered, an exchange like BTC-E is likely.

I have a question for you guys.  Which is more preferred in regards to buying services for Cryptos?
  • An open market similar to Ebay/Bitmit offering users to sell items in exchange for Crypto-Currency.
  • A large-scale but closed market similar to Newegg selling items in exchange for Crypto-Currency.

Let me know which you prefer.  Smiley

Looks like Cryptsy is down again.  Sad

There is already an Ebay/Bitmit type store in the works. If it was a Newegg type store, we would have been up and running a month ago.

In general, I am inclined to agree with you.  There is quite a gap between the market cap of Megacoin and the market cap of the top five, six, and even seven.  One must remember, however, that the market cap of Feathercoin when it hit BTC-e and other exchanges was not where it is now.  Feathercoin was pumped up significantly simply for being listed on BTC-e.  The same can be said for Terracoin.  If Megacoin is to be listed on other exchanges, I feel that it should be listed according to its merits and not because of a bounty.  That is my opinion of course Wink

In regards to your question, I think both styles of market have a place.  So I will give the answer you do not want and say both Smiley

Kimoto, I quite enjoyed your responses over the last few pages.  It was a good laugh, and laughter is good for health Smiley  As always, keep up the great work!

I agree completely. We don't need to pump up Megacoin, we just need to get our services rolling, and the exchanges will need MΣC more than we need them.
I also think we need both types of stores. The more services, and options to use MΣC, the better.  Grin

lol.
But seriously all we need to do is get mec up to a greater market cap. It certainly wouldn't take too much to push it to $0.05 each which will put it in the running. After that point I think that MEC will gain much more attention.
