It's not in the renter's agreement, but it is a restriction of the ISP. They claim that if I were to attempt to use a switch, it would not work on their network. I don't know anything about networking, so I was just accepting what they told me as true.

And no, this is not at a university.

That is because they lock the service to your MAC address, get a router and clone the MAC address, follow the instructions. a ASUS N16 router is pretty good and fairly cheap.

Is anyone considering doing a group buy with shares?  I can't swing $8k right now, but could probably do 4 or 2...  I haven't really seen anything like that offered, but would will to work with a trusted member on something if there is interest.  Probably use escrow if possible...

You can just buy a starter kit and add as many Hcards that you can afford.

I am starting with a starter kit and plan to expand it over time. Ultimately to 5 full rigs.

If you have access to a physical ethernet connector - then yeah, get a switch/hub/etc.  That's the way to go - that this notion that your break something from your ISP, well thats a bunch of hogwash (I've always wanted to use that word). 

The issue with WiFi-USB route really has to do with the OS.  Unless you're running a script to keep the connection alive, it'll most likely die - and (at least with cgminer) a dead network connection means a reset to your mining pool and a lot of down time. 

One thing to consider too, case - or at least how you're going to keep the system to physically stand.  I'm probably going the Sportswood route. 

Something totally different - after thinking a bit more (and after some coffee in the afternoon), who else is just going to grab power for their Pi directly off the ATX PSU?  I figure that I'll just piggyback off of here for my Pi's needs - you'll need to have one anyways.  I was thinking about some of the more complex (yet cooler) solutions - but simple is best.

It would be swell if there were pins even to turn on the system (I don't recall if this is on the current board - or if you have to jumper from the PSU), and super awesome if there were the ability to draw power for the Pi directly.

Any word on the PSU connectors on the M-Boards?

It looks like the normal ATX power supply powers down when it's not connected to a motherboard.  I've seen a couple of DIY solutions for wiring a up a jack to make the rails active.  Does anyone know we will need to do something like this to power the m-board and rPI?

I think I paid $140 for it, and it works great for my LTC miners. After configuring it, I just hook up the normally open pins on each relay to the reset pins on each miner's motherboard. If a miner isn't responding, I go to the dynamic DNS hostname I set up, it's port forwarded on my router, and pow, I've got a web based gui with buttons to restart my miners.  

Now, I won't be in a situation again where I go on a two-week vacation and one of the miners locks up on day two.  

So, If I connected one of these relays (normally closed) in series to the power supply of the Rpi, will it restart the Rpi and continue to mine? It is my understanding that the Rpi does not have restart pins like a motherboard does.
