so the VGB protocol is just a variation of a random reward block. not really anything new, LuckyCoin has a random lucky block too and was launched months ago.

I think I'll concentrate my efforts on another coin, I think I'll look more into a mix of Proof of stake and proof of work for my alt coin.  Cheesy

I warned him to make up his mind about the premine. Instead he deceived us with 0% in announcement and then changed it back two posts later and tried to bury it in the thread

You can't blame me, though, I didn't through that much at it...

So what does Vlad's Gb do for pools?  Since most small miners mine only on pools.  I guess award a pool the superblock, which would then be funneled down to  award the big miners a lot, and the small miners a tiny fraction.  Lol.  I had so much more hope then a Luckycoin clone.

Big miners will win the VGB lottery proportionally more than small miners. This doesn't benefit the small miners more. Neither does having a shorter coin generation time with more coins.

Yes, but its all in proportion.

Right now the big miner gets all the coins and the small miner get not even a chance.

With this golden block protocol the small miner will definitely hit some golden blocks.

Show me one coin that gives the small miner even a dream chance to hit it big, to gain an edge.  You want me to exclude the large miner which I won't do.

Watch people when the mine this.  You will see lots of solo miners and small miners hit those golden blocks.

Sorry I could punish the large miners so only the small miners could hit the golden blocks.

It appears the relevant "VGB" code is:

Code:
std::string cseed_str = prevHash.ToString().substr(8,7);
const char* cseed = cseed_str.c_str();
long seed = hex2long(cseed);

int rand = generateMTRandom(seed, 100000);

if(rand > 50000 && rand < 50011)
nSubsidy = 10045 * COIN;  //The VGB Protocol Random 250x Block Award

As others have noted, this superblock does nothing to reward small miners, as larger miners have their usual proportionally larger change of mining the superblock.

I see nothing that should interest smaller miners in this coin.

yeah, sure... a coin for small miners..... i have a radeon hd 6670 ddr3 (about 100khs scrypt mining) on my daily use computer, and still answer myself how i can compite with a 2000khs mining rig??

PS: meanwhile i write this, a diotonic found 21 blocks and i still nothing found..... a coin for small miners? sure!!

Well if it makes you feel better, we both got 0 NUG, even though I'm throwing about 4.9 MH at it.

But this is like saying that it's possible for someone with one lottery ticket can win the jackpot over someone who buys a million lottery tickets. Sure it's possible but it's so unlikely you shouldn't even count on it.

Why don't you guys try it just for one day, mine this and compare it to mining any other coin and if its not more fun and more rewarding then ill shut it down.

I lost track of them all, were there any since jokecoin, luckycoin, and on and on and on several per day that did NOT include lucky blocks?

If so I had not realised that fad had died out already.

Oh look here is another, "super random blocks" the title says: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=255806.0

From the source:
Code:
		if(nHeight == 1)
nSubsidy = 1100000 * COIN; //.5% Public Wallet Premine

if(nHeight == 2)
nSubsidy = 1100000 * COIN; //.5% Coin Owner Premine

else if(nHeight < 10)
nSubsidy = 0 * COIN; //No  Coins awarded for the first 120 blocks (fair launch)
The comment that says "fair launch" definitely means it. Don't pay attention to the premine part.

Just quoting this for the people who are complaining about 0 coins lol

Don't worry, the miner's coin doesn't allow insta-mining. Just pre-mining!

10 (base what?) means 120 (base ten)? What weird base is that written in?

So? If I am 1% of the pool's hashrate, I still get 1% of the rewards. If the pool finds a superblock, I still get 1% of that block. A coin that really helps small miners should give that small miner >1% of the block.

I already addressed this.

That's nonsense.  Small miners have a good chance of twitting the Holden block and its random.  So what if say large miners hit 70% and small miners hit 30%.

That's 30% they never had before c

Before this protocol small miners had ZERO chance.  Now they have say 30% chance and these goldoen blocks are large and yet you guys area till crying.  Without excluding the big miners there is no good way and I will not exclude the big miners cause that's called communism.

This is a clear advantage to the small miner, sorry the small miner couldn't get 90% of the blocks but that's not realistic.

But even in a pool, where the big miners gets the golden blocks faster, the small miner will still get way more coins than the expected 49 coins.  That right there is a gift from the large miner for something the small miner did nothing to deserve.  You guys fail to see the big picture c

Aren't there a ton of random-huge-block coins already?

And I'll see even more huge miners win this.

What this means is that huge miners will be more likely to have wins, and will even have larger sums of coins. Most small miners have no chance of winning ever, so it's actually weighted against more small miners than most coins.
