There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

What is the IRC/port 6667 communication for?

Most probably peering
Didn't realize they actually peer'd through IRC networks?    might explain why I used to get a ton of goofy connections when I ran an IRC network heh

EDIT: Indeed this does seem to connect and join #Lebowskis00
... reminds me of a botnet ...

Yeah nearly all clients do that

Interesting... never picked up on it before, what happens if the clients get knocked out of those networks/channels, does it just auto-peer to another network?... where does it get the lists of networks/servers from?... oh I have so many questions... can I find any documentation about this??

Yeah i think it should be hybrid, well on 0.8x clients they don't use irc system anymore, I have no clue though.

So, anyway I can get this client to bind to a different IP then 127.0.0.1?   I have multiple IP's on a machine, and need to connect some of my miners to that machine... it binds on 127.0.0.1, but I cannot get it to bind on another IP using port 8245

Thank you, we aim to embody the dude as much as possible with Lebowskis, which means this should be the most laid back thread on bitcointalk  Cool

I thought this was a joke because it says "This coin pair is under maintenance" and there isn't any LBW in the sidebar.

Which is exactly the same as:

https://www.coins-e.com/exchange/KFC_BTC/
https://www.coins-e.com/exchange/666_BTC/

or

https://www.coins-e.com/exchange/YourMomma_BTC/

So you can put anything in that URL and make it look like it is "under maintenance."

But here is where you should look:

https://www.coins-e.com/exchange/coin/list/

Where it is listed as being "under maintenance." For realz. I guess asking nicely works. Smiley

Don't forget this is the fastest time a coin has been added to an exchange, thus showing how much potential there is and the dev and supporters are not greedy waiting to mine before it hits them Wink i am contacting cryptsy too for them to add it to there exchange and a few other exchanges i know personally Smiley

Will update soon!
