Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin

Doubt that can happen, at least in near future. Bitcoin is more famous and have more funds. Etherium might only overtake Bitcoin only if most of Bitcoin investors shift to ETH.

If widespread crypto adoption ever occurs, ETH might well be the most popular crypto asset.

There are lots of hurdles ahead; mainly the ASICS war and  the shift for PoW to PoS, but ETH has the potential to become a crypto monster like BTC itself.

Will it overtake it? Nobody knows for sure! Four years ago, who could have guessed things would be as they are now?

I believe BTC will keep the dominance for the foreseeable future but in a couple years, who knows?

Personally, I believe Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin someday.
I think after Ethereum changes from PoW to PoS system, the cryptocurrency world will have some changes in the influence of Bitcoin.
Ethereum has a system can get confirmation faster than Bitcoin, it also has smart contract to applies for many fields in business and a large ICO market.

Will the transition run smoothly?

Will there be mass adoption of the PoS ETH blockchain?

What about the huge ETH mining community? They will point their rigs at some other profitable mineable crypto asset for sure. How will that impact the ETH general community?

If the outcome of the PoS transition is favorable, then ETH might significantly close the gap to BTC.

I truly believe PoW is doomed in the long run, so ETH might prevail in the end.

I think that it won't be happen at this year or at least ethereum will need around two or three years to reach bitcoin value. Ethereum needs to be more popular and well known for new investors.

I think that the probability that the ethereum will become the number one coin for capitalization is very high. In fact, this requires very little. Ether has repeatedly shown its potential for growth. I think that this year we will see something interesting.

I think it would be hard for etherium to overtake bitcoin. Bitcoin has passed all the test of time so I have no doubt that about the value of bitcoin. Etherium is also volatile and may change it's value anytime just like bitcoin but it's too hard for eth to rise like bitcoin. It needs to prove a lot first.

Well, I don't think that if BTC will fall then ETH won't. Base on the price performance for the past years when btc is falling it would happen that all if the coins will also fall. In my point of view btc has a vital role in the cryptomarket.

I very much doubt it. Bitcoin, as it was digital gold, will remain it. I agree that now there are coins with better technology than bitcoin, but this does not mean that they will overtake bitcoin at a price.

In my opinion, about transaction cost,Ethereum has a different method for costing transactions depending on their computational complexity, bandwidth use and storage needs. Bitcoin transactions compete equally with each other. This is called Gas in Ethereum and is limited per block whilst in Bitcoin, it is limited by the block size.

I think this scenario is not gonna happen too soon because as we can see ethereum is plunging whils bitcoin is more stable. But it is not impossible that ethereum will overtook bitcoin on the top spot with regards to market capitalization because we all know that ethereum now is more popular that it is utilized in many ICOs.

Ethereum will take over bitcoin, I think it is impossible because bitcoin is the father of other coins .. Ethereum is only used as an ICO payer and takes a long time to earn big profits and that too if ICO is not a scam .. and bitcoin remains the highest price and becomes the benchmark between the other coins and the Ethereum can only compete with it.
