US companies seems to suck...bitmine is about to ship there goes all our profit making bitmine got their chips after hashfast but before cointerra. they should've delivered units by now. think they got their chips a month before cointerra - at least they taped out a month or two before cointerra. its also unknown how well their box works. am eager to hear... (might order some myself if it delivers) i mentioned this months ago but i would love to hear news on whether their 3,000 watt power supply will deliver all 3,000 watts when run on a single US power circuit (120 volt) as that seems like a lot to expect out of a US power outlet, and i worry that the power supply might max out at 1800 watts when used in the US. -- Jez they had sample chips if this is what you meant but they got their production chips just the day before yesterday.

I am looking at both news updates, and I cant find a single word about the approved Certifications, which makes me wonder how that customer walked out with his miner as they claim (and as he claim).
I got my picture taken, saw the box, and then had to leave without it because they could not legally give it to me.
He is having the miner hosted at Cointerra until the certifications are complete. Will Early April Fools joke? (couldn't resist, for those who get the reference)

You got to run it on 240 volt, I tried a cooler master i700 and it works on 120-240 volt fine, at .99 PF on 120. Just get a electrician to wire a 220-240 volt plug in, with the 15 amp breaker.

In North America most 15A circuit breakers are rated to carry no more than 80% of their nominal load rating on a continuous (3 hours or more) basis. This typically means 1440W (120V x 15A x 80%). Running an 1800W load on such a circuit would trip the breaker within a few minutes. It is quite rare to see 100% load rated circuit breakers. But if the difference between 1440W and 1800W is the difference between running and not running, the breakers are easy enough to swap out.

Well in IT environments we run 3000 watt UPS systems over 120 but you have to have 30 amp breakers and the right wire. Also the plugs are the NEMA L5-30P because you can't push that much through a standard outlet. My guess is that if someone tried to run one of these in their home it would trip the breaker a lot. This is not really a bad thing though because with a high constant draw like that it would be fire hazard in home wiring. Even a 20amp breaker will not give you 1800 watts constant because there's no such thing as a %100 efficient wire (a concept miners can relate to!). I think as aero has mentioned though, these are pretty serious pieces of equipment and I would be surprised if too many people are thinking they can just stick em their living room and fire it up! I guess I could be wrong though. Bottom line: At those numbers it isn't really a household appliance unless you have the means to set it up correctly (and safely!).

So they shook his hand, made it look like it was his machine at that very moment, and then told the poor kid he can't have it yet?
If that's not public deception I don't know what is.. don't take pictures of hand offs if its not even a hand off
theres two sides to every story. i heard they gave it to him in the ceremony and took photos at the time... then plugged it in and left it hashing with his own address... using their electricity... cos they hadn't received their fcc/ul approvals in time for him to walk away with it that day (not allowed to sell an unlicensed device) the approvals came in the next day so he took it home later... big deal, no harm done. doesn't sound like a big deception to me. he took ownership of it, and it made bitcoins for him from the moment of the ceremony and he had it at home before ct made the announcement. why is that public deception? he seems pretty happy about it, and complimentary of ct. did u not see his reddit posts? http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1webkm/i_am_the_guy_who_got_the_first_cointerra_miner_ama/its public deception because its misleading current, and inquiring customers that they have actually started shipping products when in reality they've only given one out, and in reality have no timeline when the rest will be shipped.

US companies seems to suck...bitmine is about to ship there goes all our profit making I have mined over 10K Bitcoins with Butterfly Labs hardware and less than 100 Bitcoins with KnCMiner hardware. But the company I see with the most potential is from the U.S. and I will be patiently waiting for Cointerra's 14nm 3D Bitcoin mining hardware. I am betting that Cointerra will get there first and it would be a good time to invest big. You've heard it before, timing is everything when mining for Bitcoins. I've mined tens of thousands of Bitcoins because of timing. When I first started mining back in late 2009 with my Xilinx LX240's, I would have been lucky to trade 10K Bitcoins for a slice of pizza, they were absolutely worthless back then. I am still astonished that people are trading their real hard-earned money for Bitcoins, but who's complaining. As long as everyone involved understands that it is a zero-sum game, there must be winners and losers. However, there is one thing that worries me though about people investing their real hard-earned money in Bitcoins, SHA-2 (256-bit) or secp256k1 (prime field Koblitz elliptic curve) may be compromised sometime in the future and crash the whole system. You've also heard it before, never invest in Bitcoins what you cannot afford to lose.

If you try plugging in TWO 120 volt from the same room they could be on different phase, creating a dead short, and trip breakers smoke wire etc. And 120 will use more watts than 240.
There are two PSUs in the unit, and it should be perfectly fine to run them on separate legs of a residential service.

Why do so many people pretend to understand how household power works when they have no clue?? 240 will be more efficient, and if you have the ability to run 240 legs to the area you want your miners, do it. Building a consumer device that uses more power than a 110 outlet can provide is fairly stupid, but it seems like they had no idea how much power it would end up using.

Also anyone running a device like this connected directly to the wall should have their head examined. You need to run it through a UPS not just for outages but for spikes and brownouts which are more harmful to electronics than outages.

You won't have a problem with using 2 different legs, since there are two seperate PSU's,they will convert to DC voltage, problem solved The main issue will be wire gauge & the outlet rating.14 AWG MAY heat up quite abit pulling 1800 watts (15 amps),I don't recommend it. My 7 year old home has 14 AWG for all 120 volt,15 amp circuits.I had 1400 watts (12 amps) being pulled on my bedrooms circuit with 4 outlets,GPU mining, every few days the breaker would trip. So I changed the breaker to a 20 amp...BUT,I monitored the amp draw with my meter & checked my wires in the breaker box & 4 outlets & the wires in the attic for temp, over several days.Never heated up thankfully,it ran like that for over a year.I got lucky.............you could say. If your wiring is 12 AWG,you can pull 1800 watts (15 amps) with no issue, just up the breaker to a 20 amp'er Yeah 240/220 is preferred & draws less amps,if feasible get a dedicated line installed You can turn a 120 volt circuit into 220 volt by adding a dual breaker & swapping the outlet,BUT cover/label any unused 120 volt outlets,so no one plugs a 120 volt device in them,it'll fry it & maybe them Consult an electrician before attempting ANY of the above....PLEASE!!!!!!!

Just a warning to anyone that might be doing Bitcoin/Litecoin mining at home: Be careful of how much power you are pulling! I had separated a 120Amp line for all my miners, and that was fine, but my electric meter panel was very old and couldn't handle the heat. The wire insulation melted, the wires shorted out, and caught on fire. Thank God it happened while everyone was awake. Luckily I had a fire extinguisher. Now I'll just be without power for 2-3 days n be out close to $5000 in repairs. I just wanted to share my experience so maybe someone else can avoid a similar situation. EDIT: I own KNC gear, along with other miners. This situation was caused due to a lot of miners being run. I was just trying to be helpful so others do not fall into a similar situation.

So the fcc/ul approvals are in? Why aren't we hearing from anyone else about shipping? My order just shows "processing" as it has for months.
wish there was someone from cointerra on here to answer questions... thats one thing i think they're definitely lacking in... is forum coverage! they only seem to come here when they want to announce something... they don't read posts nor answer questions. They login everyday, they have just changed their online status to hidden. Not sure why they don't want anyone to know when they are logged on to the forum. Maybe to avoid answering questions?
