Hmm...I just got an e-mail back saying that the December units will finish going out on Monday and only then will the January units be shipping which is pretty different than what goat was told.

yeah but i did not exactly trust what they told me. but then again i guess if you buy enough of them you get them sooner.
I dunno, I didn't spend a quarter million but still, I bought a low double digits number of units so it wasn't exactly chump change.

I built my own colo in PA.
Oh nice, that was my original plan but we hit a snag with power costs because my mining partner relocated from a place with 9 cent/kwh power to a place with 25 cent/kwh power, so in the meantime we're looking at just paying someone else to colo it someplace with cheap power.  I've been thinking about building a colo in Nevada since the power costs there are pretty cheap but the weather in the summer is gonna drive cooling costs through the roof.

Don't feel bad.  I spent many times more than goat and still getting any information from them is like pulling teeth.

really, you spent $1,000,000 or so?   im going to call BS

anyway with a friend on the inside of the company and a nonstandard contract that gives us more rights it still takes about 5 days for me to get an email i dont really trust.

in the end if it comes to it my lawyer is ready but there is not need for that now.

There was a person who spent about $1M worth of BTCs on Cointerra hardware, it may have been him.

Butterfly Labs is facing a lawsuit for over $5 million that alleges that it was negligent in its business dealings, and even accuses the company of downright fraud.

Just caught this on Coindesk.  I'm confident that my units will arrive from CT.   But it's nice to know that people are starting to stand up to these multi-million dollar companies that don't follow through and I hope any new companies think twice about taking advantage of customers.

The other day I found out I had some crazy six degrees of separation kinda connection to one of the executive assistants at Cointerra, apparently they used to be the secretary for a CEO who's a friend of a friend of a friend.  Of course this didn't get me anything, but I still found it pretty surprising.  I wonder what they offered to get a high end secretary to jump ship.

So, is it known how to use these things to mine?

Easy to set up?

Anyone know how to do this?

I would be new to ASICs.

Links would be awesome. Thanks

No instructions with mine, but it was pretty easy to get up and running - just SSH into the box once you see it appear in your dhcp leases - credentials are username:root password:cointerra - then you edit the cgminer.conf in /Angstrom/Cointerra and add your pool info.

You can do it via the web interface too, but I found editing the files to work more reliably.  Let me know if you need any help setting it up via PM.

This is a CoinTerra Bitcoin miner thread. It is about the CT units and I am asking how to operate it.

You are talking about alt coins. I hope you get banned.

Everyone please report this off topic stuff to mods.

do 5 min research stop asking to be spoonfed

think about what you actually asked. 91 pages in.months after ordering 10's of TH worth. "So, is it known how to use these things to mine?" what do you think? no..nobody know how to operate ASIC and nobody have any clue how to mine bitcoin, they are just using them as paperweights Roll Eyes..wasting space just as much as what you are complain about

the issue is the alt-coins, not the assistance in getting started with a cointerra product. one of those issues is off-topic and the other one 100% belongs in this thread

You gotta be kidding! You are actually asking HOW to operate a CT miner after spending a quart on it? Something smells fishy...

I was a healthy part of that group buy. I only have 13 units.

But yes, I realize it looks silly but why and how could I have learned before the units were even made? I have no experience with ASICs other than AsicMiner and the god like FriedCat did all the work for me.

I was able to get some pointers from willphase  and I feel pretty good about operating these. It is not at all as complicated as running GPU or CPU farms, something I have a grate deal of experience in.

goat it is easier than you think, most of these new miners have a web interface where you can set it up, I didn't own an ASIC for long time, except a couple of BFLs that I sold after a couple of weeks from receiving them, but in Cointerra case you have to look at the IP address of your miner in the connected devices in your router, get that IP and write it in the address bar of your internet browser and you just fill up settings, you can also SSH your machine to monitor cgminer.

in other words, you will figure it out...

People in the US have barely received theirs so I would doubt...I have an early December order and I have nothing and no shipping confirmation or anything.

Your Highness Goat,

anyone who has run a GPU farm before can handle ASIC, they are designed for the mass.
With GPU. we had much more fun with overclocking and undervolting and that kind of stuff.
ASIC are so simple that it is no fun anymore to run a farm.
The only thing you got to do with ASIC is plug it in and fill in your pool info.
