The growth rate is far higher in alt coins because they usually have to offer far more utility for a much lower price.   You are taking more risk but also you should be demanding more when taking an interest in it.  
Its always been that way since LTC first came to bring faster transaction speed, pretty basic but its expanded on that some.   Look for a good dev team and dont be putting down developers who are trying their best to make crypto a high utility area.

As far as BTC goes it will also have to develop and improve utility, especially userability imo has to rise.   Its natural it would rise far slower then these newer type clone coins.

Right now, The price has dropped to a pretty huge extent and I think this is the best chance for the people who didn't get to invest in bitcoins. Bitcoin's price has already started becoming more stable than it was a few weeks ago and it has stopped dropping further. I don't think it would fall anymore and the people who invest and hold now might get a lot of profit if they have patience and hold for a long period.

I think it's a fine time to invest in Bitcoin. If you believe in it's utility and purpose you should always be investing in it.

However, I also believe there are great gains that can be made through other cryptocurrency investments - Ripple, Litecoin, Ether, Dash are obvious choices. And there are a few others emerging.

Maybe an equally important discussion should be about "how do you invest in cryptocurrencies when values are rising so high?" What is the wisest strategy? Diversification!

But bitcoin does not have the highest price limit. What if I say the bitcoin price today is 25% of the price for the next 1 year. Come on now is a good time to invest bitcoin. The price offered by the market is low. You do not waste this opportunity.
