Both are having different concepts now. Bitcoin is a father of coins while Ethereum is getting mother of Tokens. So both have there importance. And both are getting stronger due to there use.

Investment on both side will not leave u in loss.

The reason ethereum may not be considered HODL material, could be due to its variable supply. We all know bitcoin's "supply" is limited to 21 million coins. Ethereum has no limits on supply, the number of ETH coins issued, which could over the long term result in it being printed ad infinitum, similar to fiat currencies of this day and age.

Its a philosophical and economics armchair debate as to whether ethereum or currencies which can be printed without limit will ever have a real advantage over gold, bitcoin or things defined in terms of having limited supply.

If ethereum is well managed over a period of decades, people may buy into its "trust" based system. It all depends on ethereum's stability and reliability over time. What its reputation is and what people are willing to pay for it.

Both coins are profitable in case of long term investment the only thing here is that the bitcoins price is rapidly raging up and up that's why many users are just investing to bitcoin because of the price rage and easy profits, the good thing about ethereum is when it comes to transaction it's much faster than bitcoin how?

I don't believe that many are not believing that eth is a good investment for long term holding. Seen those smart contracts and most of the ICOs are generating ERC20 tokens so it's use and value grows a lot for the past years.

to play long-term I prefer investing and buying ETH as much as I can buy, because the price of ETH is also still cheap and ETH works with some very good ICO and makes you become rich.

It's not a product but it's a coin, an altcoin. And it's use by most of the upcoming ICOs just like what I mentioned. And furthermore ETH shouldn't be really compared to bitcoin, if you are a crypto investor you have to diversify your funds and investments to different sorts of coin. If you are through with bitcoin and ETH then you have to find some other coins where you can invest your capital but only those coins that has potential and has a real plan.

There was a moment last year when the price of ethereum was growing at the same rate as bitcoin. For example if bitcoin price was growing with 5%, ethereum would have the same growth. But since bitcoin started to increase up to 10.000$ things started to change and bitcoin went far ahead ethereum. Now I see that ethereum came back and keeps the run with bitcoin. I think both of them are a good investment as a medium term investment but over a long time investment bitcoin is better because it has only a limited supply of 21M. After all of those coins will be mined it is over while ethereum can produce unlimited coins.

Clearly i dont want to invest my money and my effort on something that is hackable, last year in 2017 there have been many reported incidents of hacking of ETH wallets and ICO's. Unless ETH wont resolve these main problem the devs should start thinking if their buggy crypto currency will be able to surpass btc.

I think in 2018 there are less and less people who don't believe in Ethereum future. As for me, I consider ETh to be a long term investition.

Ethereum may require only 14-15 seconds at average to mine a block, but it's mining difficulty is much lower compared to bitcoin, so you actually need to wait 10-20 blocks or more for the same protection you would get from 1 confirmation at the bitcoin network.

I believe that Ethereum has no place at the future of cryptocurrencies, there is simply no reason that people won't use bitcoin for making ICOs.
Bitcoin can act as store of value and for ICO making at the same time.
I think that Ethereum will slowly die after bitcoin feature of smart contracts will come out, there is simply no need for coins like Waves,Ethereum,Stratis, Neo.

It depends on how the developers of ethruem plan further to the coin, the problems carrying ETH have somehow made a huge impact for its decline in the market.

we know that bitcoin is our main investment and for some people, they hold ethereum too as their investment. although maybe the amount that people has for investment is not too big than bitcoin, in the long term, ethereum is a good choice to hold. I think the concept of accepting ethereum as hold coin has long gone becaus people are not use to it. We have seen clearly last year that ether was really really slow at its growth and the prices were locked down to 200-300 USD all the time. There was not even 301!!! until we hit the November December month last year when bitcoin suddenly popped up making it competitive for other alts too. Out of that prestige thing ether got more attention as it was low valued coin and then it grew to what we are seeing today.

I think people will still use it as the coin to trade the ICO funds and then again sell it for the bitcoin profits once done with it. So I think no they not gonna change the mentality yet.

You are like comparing Oranges and apples. Both Bitcoin has Ethereum have different visions. Bitcoin has a brand recognition and is regarded as the king of Crypto. But to answer your question if you are looking into a long term I would suggest Ethereum anyday. Bitcoin is no way useable today for the purpose it was created. People are loosing their minds due to high fees and the scaling issues. So an alternative will come up to take its place. Where as Ethereum is gaining a lot of traction day by day and 100's of tokens are created having ETH as fuel. This will drastically increase ETH price. Also if you are going into long term again look on other altcoins too. Neo would be a great alternative to get into at this price.
