You have a bit of experience IMHO !! Maybe you know a good secure location in NJ? The problem I have with a collocation site is that we need security even with one box as maybe we want to expand in the future. We are actually working with money making machines, that is even if the diff rate is going up x10 its something we have to think about. Just putting 6k in someones basement is a risk, Hawaii is out until volcano power is feasible, research that DZ!! but in the short term we need an east coast or maybe mid west site to host our first box. My 2 satoshi's
JD
PS Brazil is out, too complicated with imports. But Venezuela might be something to think about in the future... Cheap power, good internet..

I could run them in my garage, but and this is the big but, power is 18 cents a k watt. I ran a 3400 watt gpu farm for about a year and now I am running a 100-130 usb stick asic miner farm about 600 watts rather then 3400 watts.. Not so sure If would want to run it. Now I just ran this mining calculator and 500 watts at 18 cents is 65 dollars a month. https://bitclockers.com/calc As for security I live in a low crime town my and the wife no kids no smoking no pets. I have a few good quailty ups from eaton I could run the unit for up to 3-5 hours in a blackout. In the cold weather cooling is not as issue in the heat which is just about to end My garage is attached to my house and does get air-conditioned. Also I run www.bitminter.com 100% all or nothing keeps accounting easy. How many different share-holders do we have?

philipma1957 Full respect on your current setup and your vision. As I said before you have some real life experience that is an asset to our group. You also understand that the equipment we will use today will probably change in the next 3 to 6 months and the power/complexity of that equipment will demand upgrades. My only concern is that we might need a facility that can grow with that demand and provide the extra power and network resources as we need, to grow exponentially and not result in your divorce . That said you are in a cheap power zone and have a good existing setup. 65$ a month for 400 gh/s is not a bad price for power. It sounds to me like someone is always home so that is a plus too. Security is always an issue in this world.. Comments?

J dave we have spots in the usa with 12 cents a k watt even less . while I could run the gear.
there has to be some one with a better power price then I have.
also if I see the gear on the site correctly each unit is like a mid size pc tower. since the usa is going into the fall season most any home can run 1 or 2 of these and cooling is not a problem. Oct to april the north east and or any northern state and the heat the unit give off is free heating for a home. But to be frank my wife is tired enough of me running all the gpus . Now sold off letting me buy the AM usb sticks and take a flyer or two with a group buy like this.

Awesome! I knew we had a good group going into this, but this just confirms it. jungle_dave is correct we do need to keep in mind security esp. as awareness of BTC continues to rise. HashFast may actually have been on to something though, with a mid tower form factor, this probably *won't* look much too different from your usual water cooled gaming PC (not that that makes it immune to being overlooked for theft). If there is such a thing as a perfect home host location it would be: - Someone vetted and trusted implicitly - IT background - Some available to go press the darn reset button nearly 24/7 - Pre-installed security system - Low crime area - Big dogs - No smoking - A/C - of course, ultra cheap electricity - (Bonus!) Works as a cop, armed security guard, or MMA instructor (ehehe) According to this govt. site: http://www.eia.gov/electricity/monthly/epm_table_grapher.cfm?t=epmt_5_6_aWashington (Hydro), Louisiana (Oil refineries), and West Virginia (Coal) have *the* lowest electricity rates in the US. Perhaps we should focus on these 3 states or ones near their ranking if we intend to scale up profitably as a co-op. I do like phillip will be around or have someone around, and I can live with that electricity rate. Since we're discussing options: Anyone know of any reputable DataCenters in these Washington or WV? I think Louisiana suffers from too many storms to be a viable host site. We can work together on this to get quotes; teaming up & splitting up states by region could yield us a gem of a quote. We're looking for: Colocation Mid Tower Hosting (which not all DCs take; which is why I warned HashFast designers about that as soon as I heard back from cypherdoc), usual server services, 24/7 steady bandwidth but does not require huge bandwidth needs (no torrenting; no video/music streaming) so lower levels of the data plans are acceptable. We obviously can't afford something like Tier III/IV-type service guarantees, but we still need something that's up more then 99%+. We do have another miner I'm assisting that could help with colo costs if we can get a volume discount. I'm awaiting payment on the last 2 shares from a user (I think he sent it to the escrow wallet, I need to check) but after that: I say we open it up to a vote. Our first. We can vote for professional colocation hosting or home hosting by a co-op member.

You know, you're just the type of person I'm looking for in this private registry I'm building of buyers/sellers of hosting services. Please see my thread (sorry, still in beta) of the GB Escrow Coordinator Services & matchmaking service I'm setting up: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=280412.0Post 6 explains the matchmaking service I offer as well. I only make a small tip if there's a successful match. It's for those willing to have their ID vetted for hosting services and for those willing to come to me privately to find vetted miner hosts with cheap electricity and good reputations. Please PM me if you have questions or if you're interested. Cheers! DZ

I forgot to add that firstimeuser has electricity costs of only $20 a month! This was from a message he sent me. Please be patient with him, as English is his second language. Do give him a pat on the back, however, as he knows 4 different languages! I'm sorry this got buried but I'm publishing this now, as this is also a possible option if we opt for personal hosting: " Hi DZElectricity cost me $20/month ALL INCLUDED I can host and watch(24/7) the Baby Jet for low fee 0.5% My job is 2(two) min away, next block. I can always leave the job for an hour at any time. Douring the day I am at home. My busy-sleeping hours: 2PM - 11PM Eastern Time. (i will never sleep for the baby jet ) " He lives on Staten Island. Phillip, would you be willing to arrange a meet up somewhere highly visible and public? I know if we opted for personal hosting I'd feel more comfortable knowing a backup was in the same city borough.

If needed - I have hosting rack in Aarhus Denmark - with dedicated 100Mbit line from the largest fibre operator in Denmark. Negative is VAT to be paid for EU. I also have a Dubai hosting rack with 1Gbit non-dedicated. Positive - no taxes on income - but hosting slightly expensive and 5% import duty max. No VAT... Last option - UAE home hosting - 50Mbit/10Mbit non-dedicated - US ping 140-200ms dependent on location. But I work from home - so almost 24 hour watch. Both racks have 4 U space open right now. More to come as I am removing some old servers. I'm an electronics engineer - well educated in PC hardware since 1983 - with PRO monitoring setup (Paessler PRTG setup). I used to run/own an ISP (First private Danish ISP ever) - and if someone has time to write a PRTG plugin - the hashrates etc could be presented in my PRTG user interface with graphs etc.

Not quite sure how to do a better vetting then that. I guess I could make a 2 minute movie of the two of us talking btc hashing and standing next to our cars.

Thanks for the offer kaz911! I think we're going to stick to US sites because the shipping time is going to hurt us. By my count that's 2 EEs and 2 Network Engineers in the co-op that I know of so far.
Thanks for the offer Phillip! I appreciate the offer of a meet up between 2 co-op members. Would you be willing to be a 3rd admin regardless of where it's hosted and a local backup to firsttimeuser if it's hosted in Staten Island?
firsttimeuser was also able to offer this in response to one of my questions:
"3. Are you willing to pay for a security system since you will be responsible for expensive equipment? A. Security guard sitting at the entrance in our building 24/7 also 24/7 video recording. "
I also discussed how to insure it as home/renters insurance since he is a part owner of it and/or will have a vested interest in any other miners he might host.

Once again, I will offer to host as well, paying $0.0686 / kWh which is around $25 a month at 500w. Someone will be home at all times (85% of the time), but I will be unable. My father is a police officer in the area!

Thanks again for the offers gentlemen. My brother also happens to be a Police Lt. in the same state as bobsag. Bob's fortunate to live near some very cheap bandwidth & power & I do have potential buyers outside of our co-op eyeing Bob's 2.5% quoted rate and vetted background as very compelling. His rates make KnC's $350 a month seem pretty darn expensive now. I've offered to market his services (and anyone else with similar situations, please PM me) via ebay using my gift for gab. hehe. 3 things to update: 1..we have a confirmed new member for 2 shares. Thank you and welcome aboard! The user's name is mazza. They may or may not stop by to say hello but they've been welcomed to the co-op. I'll post a public link to the Dropbox spreadsheet of updated ownership shares and payout address later tonight; you won't need the app or need to sign up for a svc. to access it. Please confirm that your wallet address is correct in this "official" spreadsheet. 2. Tomorrow night at 9PM I'd like to open up voting for our first major decision. The vote is: Pro Vs. Amateur Colocation of our HashFast Baby Jet. You can vote publicly or privately and voting will be open for 96 hours (4 days). You can post your concerns publicly if you'd like. Hopefully, that'll give everyone enough time to think about it because we need to start nailing down pro host sites and getting a bunch of quotes if we go that route. 3. I heard back from HashFast. There was a shortage in the transaction! 1.861 BTC somehow got waylaid & just never made it there! With that receipt we had I wrongly assumed we were all paid up since 58.75BTC sounds like $5600+200S+H esp. since BTC has been over $100 for awhile. That was right about the time they were adjusting their currency rates. They're catching up with manual transactions and were asking for the rest earlier today! My email to them a few hours ago: Hi,
I don't understand what happened: Here's the blockchain transaction:
https://blockchain.info/tx/3d21778226e34c06e582f42eef755591df0eb666977baad489739423e3a85e45
I also received this invoice which I thought completed the transaction:
http://s286.photobucket.com/user/SurfSkateKauai/media/HashFastBJInvoice-8-18-2013.png.html?sort=3&o=3
So are you saying we still owe ~1.6BTC to complete the order? I think something didn't complete on Blockchain for the remaining balance.
XXXXXXXXX / DZAnyway, I paid the rest but I feel like I just got shaken down for an additional $200. We're still in Batch 1 but our placement is now in question due to a 4.72% shortfall. I hope for the sake of my future dealings with them that they honor our original payment date. I'll be talking to John S. on our behalf if they don't, because that's not right. I may also approach Blockchain for some sort of compensation if we end up losing our place in the queue. Just thought you guys should know why it wasn't publicly listed yet.

I would just like to say that I once flamed this thread for being a scammy pre-order buy. I am very sorry for that. This is still a pre-order buy but I was completely misinformed on the baby jet. You guys win and have my full support I have recently seen that more orders are open for babyjets and came back to find you guys! Has this been discussed here yet? I think it is recent and I have not seen it yet. https://hashfast.com/It says that there are 31 units left if this group buy has time to expand.. I would love to tuck my tail and buy with you lovely people! Regards, Vox
