The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

That is a pretty strong move from Facebook, but they do have a history of making rash and unpopular decisions. I think people will gradually move away from Facebook as their censorship and nanny state ideas have basically ruined what was a useful tool.

I think one of the reasons is that these ICOs are really enticing and promises big returns. Most of of them are lending platforms that encourages beginners to invest.

They do have the right to do this. But being a social media platform, they should know better. Social media sites are now for advertising purposes. They're just doing this to clean their hands off of possible scam ICO's. But no matter what they do, facebook will never be a true source of truth or whatever their trying to show the masses right now.

This can affect the marketing process of new incoming coins, but nevertheless we still have other means and ways to let the people know about the cryptocurrency. Facebook might looked at the negative side that ICOs have, I can feel the sentiment of facebook for not all or most ICOs are shady and just focus in profit taking. They might think that they are being used by the shady ones, the sad part is that there are ICOs that are worth investing to and holds a lot of promise in the future. Hope they will change their mind and turn things around for the benefit of the whole ecosystem of cryptocurrentcy.

"Social media giant Facebook has unveiled a new policy that bans advertisements involving bitcoin and initial coin offerings, among others..."

I have read this article and there are some reasonable reasons why facebook has done it. Social media websites like facebook plays a big role when it comes to marketing for every crypto companies. This decision of facebook can directly affect the marketing strategies of these coins. Facebook maybe then realized that these companies are earning big thats why this one can be a step so that they could ask for a higher fees for ads.

They are right because the site is now used by legit and scam ICO as free advertisements of their projects. I just feel sorry for those legit ICO because they where going to ban too without exemption but maybe the Facebook realized how much money they will going to earn if they will going to collect fees for these ICO in which other social media will follow this move too of collecting ads payments.

I guess this all is the doing of the few scam ICOs and maybe many people might have complained and accused facebook as they got to know about the scam ICO from facebook.People normally tend to believe what they see on their facebook wall for instance last year there was a post about NASA saying that in November there will be 15 days of blackout and people actually believed that news.Similarly many people might have invested in any scam ICOs and might have put the blame on facebook. This maybe the reason for this unusual and bold step by facebook.

the reason is because most bitcoin adverts and ICO adverts are scams

trying to get people to use 'investment' schemes where the people never get to own/trade real coins, but instead gamble the scammers database entry using a price that 'emulates' a real exchange price

and facebook just dont have time to vet all these scams or become liable for causing people to become victims.
imagine all the lawsuits of "facebook told me to go to this site and hand a scammer my life savings"

I thinks it a wrong  news information, because until now people can advertise bitcoin in facebook or other kind of ICO campaign and i m the one to prove that, because facebook not probihited an ads in bitcoin ICO,because all have a free will to advertise or promote all campaign in your wall.the only things that facebook banned are those who sent a pornographic video, and picture they erased that contains to maintain the image of facebook in good advertising social media ads and site.but this cryptocurrency continue to its  own advertisment.

We can't blame Facebook for this decision. Not all users are fond of the industry and most of them rather report those ads that are somehow irritating at some point. Tons of complains maybe a factor. But we all know that social media is one of the cheapest ways to advertise one's product or services, the downside of it is that some of them are a total fraud which abuses it.

This will be a big challenge for Legit the ICOs developers and its team. Facebook is one of the largest or has the biggest number of users in which is a good place to advertise but having that said, there are still some Social Media that haven't issue or pass a resolution to ban crypto related ads. If that happens, it will be a major problem for all.

I think this is facebook pressure from government action, the government wants to firmly control the coinage, it is impossible to let bitcoin bitter expansion, but in this case, bitcoin can still hold, indicating that the market is Optimistic about bitcoin, do not be too nervous

It seems Facebook owners need to buy cryptocurrencies in the dip. They did it after news about Subpoena delivered to Bitfinex. But actually it happened 6 weeks back but published Yesterday to panic the traders and buy cryptocurrencies in the dip. Theses FUDs, Manipulators and the scammers real threat to recovery of BTC.

IT is not good news for us, and it will adversely affect Bitcoin in the future. But I appreciate the new FB policies if you notice I have a lot of fraudulent ICO projects that are advertised on the FB so many people become victims of scammers.

Even they ban crypto still we can do post in that like take some picture then promote it in facebook and we can also do blog for it because it so open in all not like facebook or some social site,i think they can ban any transaction here in crypto but if you say ban in it social site that's not gonna happen because you can't see all of post there even your the creator of that.

Is it true? If it is true, I think facebook campaign will affect these changes. The banning of Facebook in ICO's will be hard for the upcoming project to promote its token sale. We all know that Facebook is the most popular social media site and almost everywhere, people are using it.
Maybe it will be the end of new ICO because advertising of it will become hard. I guess it is a bad luck for crypto world.

Maybe facebook is going to do something that he's the only one that will benefit throughout his platform. We have seen the news last time that Mark Zuckerberg is trying to learn about cryptocurrencies and he's looking into it. Is this the result of his study or this is just a kind of removing your competitors throughout your area? I won't be surprised if there will be an FB coin that will be advertised on facebook in the future.

If this is true, there is a chance that facebook campaign will be remove completely. This is a bad news to the new and upcoming ICO. I saw a news that they are planning to create an ICO but this happens.
