signed up and logged in... I am/was excited to see an exchange based right here in the good'ol usa.....

However.

XBT  wtf?  is that BTC  ?

XRP.. really?  that is not even a currency

XVN...?? first i heard of this... just looked it up.... not peer to peer... oversight by HSBC... really?  wtf

These currency codes, beginning with an X, are more consistent with ISO conventions than the current trend for BTC etc. In fact, BTC is reserved for Bhutan, IIRC. Codes beginning with X are more permissible for non-fiat and non-state-specific currencies, and thus perfect for cryptocurrencies like bitcoin (XBT), ripple (XRP), ven (XVN), etc. Feel free to keep referring to bitcoin as BTC if it is more convenient, but if bitcoin is to be accepted properly it will be represented as XBT, and Kraken is simply trying to be proactive in this respect in order to be a more professional exchange.

I must admit the way you are promoting the support communication is not the great one as it seems that it is recommended to ask you here to take a look at some ticket.
I know you are training new support team members, can't wait the moment when they will go on production Smiley
As for now I have no other way than ask you to take a look at #10591 - it is related to verification of the account (on kraken) to which I've send some coins, the verification was initiated some time ago already.

I've been using Kraken since October and I think its been great. The only thing I need to do now is find a friendly SEPA area bank that will allow non-residents to easily open a bank account to make inward and outward payments to Kraken easier. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to PM me or post here please, it would be a great help.

Thanks very much.Smiley

Maybe here?
Do any banks offer SEPA-depositable accounts to US citizens?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=88440.0

Thanks for the link, much appreciated. I'm based in Australia so don't have any of the FATCA-type issues associated with Americans seeking to open overseas non-resident accounts. I'll keep looking, maybe I'll be able to find a bank in the SEPA area, it would make working with the Kraken account so much faster and easier.

Thanks for your help.

@Dargo,

Can you please have someone expedite the handling of Support Request #7194? In short, I sent $2000 to my fiancés Kraken Account via Hamni Bank on 11/29. She is from the UK, where I formally lived, and is verified through Tier 2. On 12/6 I get an email from support stating that I cannot make a deposit for an account that is not in my name. Not sure why it took a week to tell me that but no worries I said - just please send the money back. On 12/9 I emailed support to ask about the delay.

Here is the reply I received:

Quote
Brian (Kraken Support)
Dec 09 15:43 (PST)

XXXXX,

There's no delay yet. Bank wires aren't next day, especially at our bank. We have to prepare a transaction form. Then that has to be singed off by our CEO. Then it has to faxed to our bank. After that, it has to be manually entered at our bank in order to send out as a wire. These transactions with our bank can take up to 10 business days.

Please stop calling our bank - they can't do anything for you. We are processing your refund, but it's going to take some time.

Best,

Brian

Both my fiancé and I have accounts at Kraken, and were very excited about your exchange - however, this type of customer service is very disheartening. Its been half a month and the money has yet to be returned.

Firefox freezes after pulling out graph on Kraken. Same thing on both  MacPro and MacBook Pro, latest osx, latest Firefox, with or without plugins.  Could someone look into it. Thanks.

That's now been mentioned twice or so, I think. They said the issue was with FF and they are working on it. Their current recommendation is to use Chrome or Internet Explorer.

I've never had a problem with Kraken on Firefox with Win 7/8/8.1. There's plenty of browsers out there, bound to be something that's suitable for the Jobsian Cult. True to form though, they tend to blame every other application before remembering that they're the ones running closed ecosystems.

I think Kraken has taken enough criticism over the last week or two, some of it warranted, most of it not. They may be having some growing pains but as someone who's had an account for a few months now, it's good to see the new members joining the exchange and the volume increasing. Hang in there folks, it will all work out in the end, in all my dealings with the Kraken support team they have been first class.

I thought that Firefox to blame as worked ok on Ubuntu, so so on Win7.  Thanks for pointing it out.

13 days since last response from support... Ticket 4747

I've also noticed that for every failed SEPA transfer, you're charged €5 to deposit the money back into your Kraken account?!

That's the exact same question I've got Wink  They're looking into it. SEPA transfers were working flawless and all of a sudden they didn't anymore. I didn't change anything at my end, so it has to be something on their end or their bank.

I've called my bank, but they send me back to Kraken's bank. They should see an errorcode/message.

Hope this gets solved, since I would like to sell some Bitcoins through Kraken but I'm not sure if this is the right time. Please update us if this gets solved, and what was their explanation.
Also, I understand they'll refund you the 5€, right? I mean, you did nothing wrong, it was their bank's failure.
