I was going to post this here, but it was a bit lengthy and may get lost/ignored/shouted down. Whatever. I blog as a hobby, sort of like aTriz and nearmiss run Hashco.ws, so I wrote up my analysis of the recent performance. Bottom line: I'm not saying nearmiss/aTriz are doing anything shady, but either their coin selection algorithm is somehow busted or there's something else causing Hashco.ws to consistently choose under-performing coins. The pool is jumping around alt-coins like a jack rabbit on speed, and virtually none of the selected coins seem to be delivering the expected returns. That's not even mentioning the 42 Coin rounds that keep popping up (and keep failing to outperform LTC). Ugh.

The goal is (or should be IMO) profits that are better than mining LTC, and looking at Coinwarz/Coinchoose there seem to be many options that are hitting that mark. Or perhaps stated better: the goal is to mine the most profitable alt-coin, so something other than LTC or BTC, but again there are many candidates that have been consistently above LTC during the past month. So if that's true, why are the coins selected by Hashco.ws somehow getting us less than half the profits of mining LTC? Is Coinwarz lying about profitability and Hashco.ws is getting mislead, is Hashco.ws just getting (really!) unlucky, or is something wrong with the coin selection algorithm? Or maybe something else.

I'd love to see the problem fixed, because I'm lazy and all I want is better returns on my investment. Hashco.ws used to provide that pretty consistently; since the hack and rebuild, I'm not sure I've ever seen us match let alone clearly outperform LTC. That's bizarre...and Middlecoin hasn't been any better that I can see, which is equally bizarre.

I am with you on this Trog, thanks for your analysis. I had asked the devs/team for an idea of profitability and then I had lazily accepted the mindset that "things will get better soon" before seeing your blog.  It was the final straw before I switched all my miners off of Hashcows, for now, and I have begun with multipool.us with auto-trading on Cryptsy.  Hell, even straight Dogecoin has been more profitable.

It is somewhat sad as I started mining with Hashcows over a month ago and really wanted to stick with them thru the "hack".  I also understand that Alts are generally down, and the effect of a massive pool dump can be catastrophic on coin mining.  But this is no longer a reasonable excuse.

That being said, I have electric bills to pay and equipment to payoff.  I can't stick around any longer on false hopes and loyalty.  I really did like Hashcows and I will keep an active eye to this forum for the day when users feel that the pool has returned to a reasonable profitability.  In the meantime, I will be searching for greener grass thru alternative methods.

***to avoid unnecessary flaming from the fanbois, note that I did mention that I actually LIKE Hashcows and WILL be returning again when it seems to make financial sense***

What is this "Bitcoin" of which you speak???

Did the pool ops not say about a month ago that they do not just dump large amounts of coins as they are not that dumb?

I'd sad to say, that I also have pointed my MH to a different pool.

3 MH/S anfter 1 week, gave a max at 0.018 for the best day, made 0.04 on middlecoin yesterday.

Will return when the pool is back to normal, still the best concept imho. but there are a lot of coin's missing in my account, and without a paper trail I can't prove og disprove my feeling. :-(

I will return someday. next pool to test poolwarz only I hate that I need to exchange the coins myself, would like to pay for that service on a great pool like hashco.ws was before the hack.

How can I change my password on the new site?  I can't find a place to do it.  With all the problems of 42Coin pools being hacked, I'm trying to make sure all my passwords are unique and stronger.

Thanks!

Yeah, I got sick to death of creating and trying to remember passwords and then I finally bit the bullet:

www.lastpass.com

I even have my Ubikey linked to it, makes it so easy.

I've just checked my balance and it's doubled from this morning.

Did you wait until all the blocks in the round were confirmed?

Are you auto-trading?  That doesn't happen immediately, you know.

Just switched to hashco.ws to try it out about 2 hours ago and it reports my hashrate at around 160Kh/s when my rigs do 6.5 Mh/s is this normal?

I know the reported hash rates from the pools are usually off but I've never seen this much of a discrepancy before.

Hi!
Just started minning about 2 days ago, i'm getting the coins minned, doge and wdc until now, but "my hashrate" at the site top and in statistics "current hashrate" is always 0.
Although i'm getting payments, accepted shares and in my worker i have Current Hashrate with value.
Am i missing something?

We are aware of a bug that users see their hashrate on the dashboard/stats page showing 0. You can see if you are mining correctly by going to you're worker settings page and there you should see a hashrate. We will be fixing up this issue soon.

Ok, thank you aTriz. Yes, my worker shows the hashrate.

I don't even know what autoswitch pool to use now. Middlecoin charges huge fees, is having stratum issues, and just upped their minimum difficulty to 1024, yet here I STILL get .003 per mh/s vs .01. I feel like I am choosing which ISP to let dick me...

EDIT: Unless some rounds have yet to mature and sell (I guess so, RPC), I only made .0013 on the 15th, mined 3/5ths of the day if I recall...

Note to aTriz/nearmiss:
You guys have so much potential here, and the sooner it's done the sooner MC users will fly away to you. No lie, many people are pissed at their fees and lack of services.

I mentioned a question some time ago about mining LTC, and why we would do it (still swear I saw it here once). I then asked on the MC thread why they do it every day.

Answer? Because it is one of the only markets that can handle 12+gh/s worth of dumps.

If we are having low payout because the buy orders on the coins we mine are low, then we need to stop mining them, maybe even pick up mining LTC for an hour or two a day to level out profits to an extent. Anything.

Let me know if I am doing something right. Smiley
