Great points you have listed as a criteria of a good gambler OP, however I did notice that most of thw gamblers I know does the opposite thing that you’ve mentioned. And I think the root of all of these is that when one person becomes greedy, all of the criteria you’ve mentioned will be done the opposite, because most gamblers are doing what they are doing because of money.

We cannot be perfect for everything and in my opinion people who have the knowledge to become better in gambling has those criteria. It's all about the emotion of the person and how he or she will react when they win or lose in a gambling situation.

A criteria for a good gambler is knowing what their own limits to play. And they are also known what is the consequences in terms by using and playing as a gamblers.

There is nothing like a good gambler and definitely its criteria can also not exist. I am not criticizing anyone but it is like differentiating bad criminal from good criminals while they are criminals.Gambling is not respected and this is considered one of the worst activity in the world. All it brings to the player is desperation, depression, frustration and financial problems. Better to not be a gambler.

I think one of the major criteria that you have missed in OP, is that a good gambler knows how to correctly balance risk and reward, and has a correct understanding of the true odds involved, without having their perception warped by media or promotional content.

For example, a good gambler knows that although the lottery has a $100m grand prize, there is a much less than 100M/1 chance of him winning by buying a dollar lottery ticket. Whereas a good gambler would rather bet on the $1m grand prize lottery that has a 1.5M/1, as statistically, his equity is higher.

As for being warped by media, most new gamblers are warped as to the frequency of winning based on what they see on TV when reality this neglects the millions of people that didn't win.

In my Risk and Finance Manager career, I worked for multiple Betsoft, Netent and RTG Casinos, including the big brands. I know this Business. I came here to say that I like the OP's Post a lot, this is how it should be. And this Thread got even better, this addition here from Spiker is truly amazing.

I personally don't gamble but I pay couple EUROS for playing MMORPG's, I can't even win Money. With gambling, you could... IMHO gambling is another Form of Entertainment, not more and not less. Like going to see a good Movie, play a Computer game or another Hobby perhaps. The idea behind the concept is to earn a quick fortune in a small period of time and you must be wise enough to know when to pull out rather than busting your entire bank balance, another thing is in most gambling platforms there is no strategy involved, just pure luck and nothing else, games like poker can be played with strategy but major are based on pure luck and that is the adrenaline .

Profit might be the first reason why people gamble, but a good gambler never attached to the profit, the most important thing in gambling is excitement and fun experience, having profit is just the bonus

a good gambler able to control himself / herself
Self controlling is very important in gambling, without a clear mind there will be a lot of mistakes in betting and even causing reckless betting and losing all of the money in split second

a good gambler know when to stop
Setting a limit is very important in gambling, setting a lost limit will prevent you to over spend your money and setting a win limit is  also important because in the long run the house got a bigger chance to win due to the house edge

a good gambler never cause any problem to the surrounding
A good gambler know that the chances of losing money in gambling is huge, so a gambler should never used daily needs money or borrowing money to gamble, and a gambler should never think of robbery or stealing to gamble

a good gambler can accept lost
When losing a good gambler won't blame the surrounding, cursing or accusing the  casino as fraud places, losing is the half part of gambling, if you can't accept lost then dont start to gamble

a good gambler should able to manage the time
A good gambler know how to split the time for family, for friends and for gambling, a good gambler never neglected family or friend just because of gambling

We must encourage people to become a good gambler, so people won't always have a bad judgement about gambler

Well I guess they are the people who gets overwhelmed with the possibility of winning profit but they give into greed and just forgets. I guess you could control whatever you need in order to make the best out of strategies. If you somehow think that it's an instant way to earn money, it is true with high risk.

Even if you try to teach the gamblers some morals of life - they will never learn or get over their habits. They understand that its bad for their time money health and their family. But still they will gamble until they are stretched thin and even in debt. They realize that the house will win in the long run and they are wasting their resources trying to run after the jackpot but it of no use telling them.

Possibly they have become resistant to people giving them advice on how to be a "good" gambler.

The problem most of them usually have at the end today all started because of that thought. I wonder how someone would imagine in their head that a game of chance is a way to earn more like they are trying to do a job, an investment or a business, and that is how some people do see it.

It would always be hard for such people to control themselves because they tune their mind into the positiveness and forgetting that in gambling, there is more negativity than positiveness and not being able to tune your mind to the negative aspect of it makes such a person a bad gambler.

I think you are clearly stating about of the game strategy but everyone has their own game strategy and some of them had a special belief in order for them to win. But most of all in order for you to win is your skills, critical thinking, knowledge, and luck. Without this luck your chances of winning would be lesser than when you have.

I think you are clearly stating about of the game strategy but everyone has their own game strategy and some of them had a special belief in order for them to win. But most of all in order for you to win is your skills, critical thinking, knowledge, and luck. Without this luck your chances of winning would be lesser than when you have.

We have our own strategy but being consistent will take us to success.
The thing is, we should not take gambling as an easy way to make money, instead we have to know the risk in order to carefully study it and succeed.

About merges with the game, I want to add something, that is., we indeed really have to choose the game that is most familiar/mastered or the most we enjoyed it. More you know about the game, more chances you have for winning. Most of the people on this forum talks about gambling like its one game, most people have just one approach to gambling and that is the reason why most people lose in gambling.
Good gambler knows the game, knows the odds and most of all good gambler have perfect management control. That is for the period before start, while gambling good gambler never get carried away by the game, controlling the game and emotions are essential.
In the end good gambler enjoy in gambling, win or lose it doesn't matter, both are part of the gamblers life and good gambler can handle both in proper manner. Gambling isn't all about profit, good gambler knows that is impossible to win all the time, that is cheating, good gambler never cheat.

Gambling is a game of fun but money makes it more interesting. Gamblers should be more responsible because on every action they do, there’s a consequences. A gambler must have all this thing, so they will be broken at the end of the day.

It is true that gambling was created to give entertainment to everyone who likes to gamble but others misunderstood the existence of gambling. Because of greediness in money they tend to gamble to earn money like it was a job and too late to realize that they are already addicted to it.

The OP post was a very informative way not to become addicted to gambling because at this statement you will know how to control your self in gambling or you just have a limitation to gambling activity that should not good for us especially for those people were chasing money on gambling or those they made gambling as a source of income.

You've made a great post, OP, which has rightfully earned you a lot of merits, mine included. I only want to point out, that in reality we can't be good gamblers always. Although we know that we should behave like you've stated in your post, sometimes we do chase profit, sometimes we can't control ourselves, sometimes we don't know when to stop and so on. In reality we can only strive for being a good gambler and the more we succeed in this the better.

Gamblers who consider gambling as some way of making profit are the worst of their kind in my opinion. No one in his senses can even think about such a theory.  If it was possible to earn money and become rich, this world would have been full of elite gamblers. In my opinion, business of any sort is the only way of becoming a millionaire and upgrading level even further

When the person becomes greedy, then there is no criterion left for that person that whether he would become a gambler or a bigger thing than this. This is the holy truth that all the gamblers are gambling for the sake of money and they cover their doings by saying that they are doing this just for fun or to experience something new in their lives. Money for them is first priority in gambling and after that everything comes.
