Self controlling is very important in gambling, without a clear mind there will be a lot of mistakes in betting and even causing reckless betting and losing all of the money in split second

Setting a limit is very important in gambling, setting a lost limit will prevent you to over spend your money and setting a win limit is  also important because in the long run the house got a bigger chance to win due to the house edge

a good gambler never cause any problem to the surrounding
A good gambler know that the chances of losing money in gambling is huge, so a gambler should never used daily needs money or borrowing money to gamble, and a gambler should never think of robbery or stealing to gamble

a good gambler can accept lost
When losing a good gambler won't blame the surrounding, cursing or accusing the  casino as fraud places, losing is the half part of gambling, if you can't accept lost then dont start to gamble

a good gambler should able to manage the time
A good gambler know how to split the time for family, for friends and for gambling, a good gambler never neglected family or friend just because of gambling

We must encourage people to become a good gambler, so people won't always have a bad judgement about gambler

yes it is true, it's all some very good criteria for a gambler, but the name of the gamble is not good, even though we have the criteria mentioned above, the views of others for each gambler is not very good, yes I think it is.

In online poker it's true but in a real casino poker it's not. The most skilled players win and luck is secondary because in a real game you can bluff, fake your playstyle, intimidate other players by being aggressive with your bets. You can never keep getting shitty cards whole game and a good player will not let the others know that this time he got good cards and make up for all those previous lost hands in a single one.

And I think the root of all of these is that when one person becomes greedy, all of the criteria you’ve mentioned will be done the opposite, because most gamblers are doing what they are doing because of money.

We cannot be perfect for everything and in my opinion people who have the knowledge to become better in gambling has those criteria. It's all about the emotion of the person and how he or she will react when they win or lose in a gambling situation.

Yes, it is either you are gambler or you are not and what actually makes everyone different is just the aspect where you can control yourself and may tend such a person towards being a reasonable gambler.

A gambler becomes reasonable once they are able to understand that gambling is just a game and totally remove the idea of winning in your head which if you win at all, count it as a huge luck. But some people always end up in the unreasonable zone of gambling until they end up losing everything.

In my opinion there is no criterion of a good gambler as all the gamblers can become good by simply putting some efforts in their work. Every gambler is playing correct game according to him but he soon becomes aware of this that he was not playing well when he loses the game. The first criterions that you have mentioned is little bit logical but the other two I think are of no use.

Well we do have different insights and we do have the freedom to speak on whats the thing on our minds.Its not totally senseless or a big joke to me yet there are really some qualities on where you can classified a good gambler.Even though I do agree on the point that we are all at risk on committing such mistake or really prone to such addiction and consequences but we do know that there are several characteristic of a person on where he would be considered as a responsible one towards gambling.

Poker sometimes may need some skills to be able to play and get the best from it, but it still all balls down on luck some or most of the time. For someone who is very skillful and may have been unbeatable most of the time, we may say such a person could be a good gambler but it is usually rare.

Luck is the main thing when it comes to any form of gambling and it is just that the risk is reduced based on the type of gambling and how learned or skillful you are in that environment, which for example, you cannot compare dice game to someone who is doing sports betting with some good knowledge about sports.

I agree with you and with the OP hopefully all gamblers or should i say addicted gamblers in the forum will be able to read the OP’s statement so that they will know the consequences in what they do. And to open their eyes that they might lose everything they have including their family.

I don’t think most of the gamblers or to be very honest if any gambling addict is going to learn a lesson by reading someone else post. I am certain that the addicts must come across many painful stories during their span but still they ignore and do what they like to do. This proves that it is not very easy to shake off one’s nature or stop chasing the temptations and pleasures.
