main criteria is probably: is the gambling profitable on the long run and is he/she avoiding ruin?
this would be the first question to ask, in my opinion

if it's only for fun and not for money than we can change these criteria.

depend maybe if what king of gambling we are talking here,  if this is a Luck base then maybe talking it as profitable  isn't that good Idea as we knew that the bank/house always win against gamblers.
but if this is about sports betting in which one of the safest gambling area? then yeah the criteria must be if it is profitable or not.

yes, it will totally vary from kind to kind of gambling
and from style of person

The qualities mentioned here are definitely the qualities of a good gambler should possess. But the sad thing is that a gambler cannot always possess such qualities in himself. As a result they have to face losses. If the new gamblers understand these things well and gamble after gaining knowledge, they can be relatively more successful. Every gambler wants profit by default but not everyone of them is after getting this profit by all means when gambling, for the categories of those that always want to make some earnings through gambling, the inpatient ones go ahead to abuse and hack their website to cheat them at all cost, these are the over zealous and hirate gamblers category, but not every gambler will be after making profits since gambling in general is profitable to them whenever they engage doing it in the comfort of their leisure time, we all have different definitions to how this mean to us.

Emotions are not easy to deal with, even the most disciplined gambler still get tempted to revenge on their bet when the loss, just that the discipline they set help them know when to stop. I prefer betting on budget that way it is much easier to control the urge to bet more. If the budget get exhausted i simply rest and wait for another day or time to try out my luck again.

everything you said is very true and i like your last words. but in this case I slightly disagree, because not all of that bullshit is real.
maybe almost 90% of gamblers always pursue profits in gambling and are always looking for the best way to pursue victory and profit. but I have also experienced that before before my life was destroyed at gambling. it was all my original mistake when I used to gamble, always chasing profits until I couldn't control my emotions and I turned into chasing losses and doing really stupid things selling valuables, spending all the money chasing losses and forgetting how to chase wins.
but since the devastation I decided to leave gambling a few years later and try to bet with full control and gamble with sober money without thinking about victory or profit. maybe some people judge me this is just a bullshit story but if anyone wants to see my transactions when betting or my winnings at gambling I never take them out but I use them again to bet at a later date. that's all I do just for fun.

What you say is true, because in this case, regardless of anything, it is still the main criterion that matters, even though it is true in this case.
Seeking pleasure is actually another factor but when talking about gambling, seeking pleasure in the end only becomes a classic excuse because when we start gambling all of that will be forgotten and our focus will still be on winning.

When it comes to addiction solving or getting ridding of it then it would be entirely be depending on someones personality on which there are ones who do easily get rid of it and there are some who cant just be able

to do so.There are different people when it comes to emotion and mindset on the things that they are dealing with and this is why results and outcomes could really differ and vary basing up into their own
perception and on how they do deal off with things.

Indeed. There are addicts who can recover faster. It depends on the addiction level (mild addiction or severe addiction). For mild addiction, it can recover fast. While for severe addiction, it probably takes a lot of time to recover. In this level, the addicts can't separate gambling habits. They cannot stop gambling temporarily. They feel that gambling is a part of their life already. So, we must wake them up, recover their mindset, and adjust their daily activities. It is not easy, it requires a certain approach and takes much time.

When they are recovered, it depends on them. They can leave gambling totally, or stay gambling with a proper way. But for people who are afraid to experience addiction again, I support the idea to leave totally. I personally assume that gambling is only for people who have a good self-control and know their limits (funds, time).

You cant really be sure of that because on the time that these wealthy gamblers or does have lots of money would come into a point where they would really be minding with their huge losses and its impossible

that you wont really be able to notice out that you are gradually losing huge money on longer run which on the time that you are making yourself that aware already then this is where emotions would kick in.

Desperation would takes place and this is where you do mess up even more because you would really be that in a hurry on trying to break even on what you had lost.
