The most important part is the leaving when you are ahead part. If I am ever gambling and suddenly make a decent return and make good profits (which is not rare but unlikely option to losing) than I usually stop and keep the profits and withdraw what I initial deposited and leave the casino.

I go back next day or couple days later and than gamble with the money I made and that makes me feel like I am gambling on free money (if you consider what I already lost, its surely not free) and that makes it even more fun. Leaving when you are ahead is the best quality a gambler can ever have and I think not doubling down on a lose is another big one. If you lost, cut your loses and leave, don't double down on it.

Most of the gamblers are not succeeded in gambling because they do not play gambling with limit, they play with everything they have, even if they will make a lot of money but still they are not going to stop it for the time, they try to make more and more money from gambling which in last cause a big lost and nothing else.

I agree with you and this is a mistake that we did in gambling games and we should be aware to not make the same mistake. it is better to make a limit in the gambling game so we can avoid getting loss all of our money and we can leave the place with the money insides our pocket. maybe we can try our luck in the other day and who knows we can win the games with easily.

But in general, a good gambler can stop when they want and will have a limit and will never go beyond that limit. This took a lot of my time and money but I managed it in the end. I can play when I want and I can stop when I want, I can gamble for $50 for a whole day and if I set the limit at $50 then I will never gamble $51 not a single chance for that. I will stop and leave my computer before I go and bet another single cent over it.

If you can get that self discipline than you can become a good gambler as well. Keep calm, don't panic, do not get cocky and play it like its a "game" not like your whole will change in a second, it probably won't.

Very few people may have that ability to stop gambling whenever they want, but i have seen a lot of people who do not have any limit and having good control over their emotion, they continue to play gambling tell they lose everything they have.

The reason why i abandoned gambling is because I was focusing on profit and not really focusing on the fun of it.  Seriously, it is very difficult for one to make it in gambling if emotions control your investments.  Now from this thread I now know I am wrong.

But to me what they need to understand is the risk that they are taking and the possible negative result which they might come up with if they gamble. I'll add that good gamblers will never blame the game, will never blame that they are unlucky.

This is why for me a good gambler is someone who have learned their lesson and stopped gambling completely. Sure, some might be able to set their limits of how much time and money they are going to spend in gambling. But to me that's just them justifying their bad habit which is gambling. There are gamblers that say they are gambling but it's completely fine because they can stop whenever they want. But to me it extends from being able to stop gambling, to being able to use that money and time for a better purpose. You have the capability to stop the bad habit, yet you are not doing it. Thus, the capability is wasted.

I think that's just a gambler who's aware of the risks and chances and are ready to face the consequences of it, which quite frankly is almost every gambler. Right when they deposit the money, they know that sooner or later they are going to lose it because they know, from experience and from theory, that they are going to lose.

The question we should be asking though is that do we really still have reasonable gamblers? In other words, evacuating the gambling premises as long as you are still sure you are still in control of yourself. The truth is any lapses in allowing gambling to get a hold of you, automatically becomes the start of a bigger problem. However, it is understandable that gambling with the money you made can make some sense but you also have to consider that the same money you made can still finish, so, at the end, you may still be back to square one.

I won't make gambling as a business because I don't want to get trouble because, in my country, gambling is one of the illegal activities although many people still playing gambling secretly. And I don't think this is the criteria of a good gambler because I am sure that there is another business that he can do, and he can try with that rather than to do a gambling business. I mean, you've described two of them, either trying to make money with gambling(which is not the best idea) or quitting completely(which is hard to do for some people because they enjoy gambling). The third option would be to continue with realization that you can hardly earn money with gambling, but that you still can get your entertainment from it. You just have to decide how much you can spend on it, say, per month, and never go over that limit. Of course, if you unable to control yourself, you should quit, that's true.

I don't disagree with what you said but like what I said it can be a part time source of income and they can make it happen. I'm not saying that most of the gamblers can do this but there are gamblers that are living their lives that way.

Yes of course there are criteria that we can say that a person is a good gambler. First it has discipline and know when to stop,  if we had no stable job then we must not bet all our money.  Second is a good gambler set limit and choose a date when to gamble,  for me I consider this because we may not have lots of leisure time and fund but if we really want at least to gamble then we can do it once a month.  Third is when we meet the limit then we have to accept that its not our day and accept it. Respect your limit so that you will not regret anything.
