Mandatory update hardfork incoming use version 2.4.1.0 Thanks Noise23 Thanks Noise23 & thundertoe! But got an error on Mega side: ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR. Please give some alt link to download a wallet. Let me get this right and just so everyone is reading off the same page, your link is for a 3rd new wallet? First there was 2.4.0.0, then 2.4.1.0, and now a new wallet to avoid the SSL bug?

How crucial is the change to the new clean wallet? I'm on the 10th day of staking with the 2.4.1.0 non-clean wallet?
Could I wait till after staking in 20+ days time, or should I do the change to the cleaner wallet now?

depends how worried you are about running a version with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartbleedupgrading wont change your coinage, so i see no reason to not use the new version. It wont have to re-download the chain or anything.

When I download the new wallet and run it, will it automatically use the blockchain from the old wallet?

Has anyone ever seen a "proof of concept" exploit relating to the heartbleed bug? And no, I'm not trying to play down the danger of a potential exploit, I'm just curious to know whether there's been a usable implementation that exploits the heartbleed flaw in the earlier versions of openssl.

Built from the latest source on the github for a windows QT wallet. Getting an error about a missing genesis block for the testnet. Clicked "ignore" and the wallet seems to be working fine, and syncing up "very" slowly.(it's an old coin)
Tek doesn't have a testnet, but the code is capable of it. I actually think it's a good idea to implement in the future, but yeah, you can safely ignore that.

When I download the new wallet and run it, will it automatically use the blockchain from the old wallet? Yes it will. Thanks. I just did it. I saved my Tek files located in the Roaming folder as a precaution. When I ran the new wallet I was asked whether I wanted to replace the files of my existing wallet. I clicked on YES TO ALL and it worked. The files in the existing Roaming folder were left untouched. The new wallet continued the blockchain from where my previous one left off. All my coins were intact. The whole thing took just a few minutes.

I'm one of them. I am currently running Windblows 10 in Virtualbox on my mac so I can use the new wallet. Am currently syncing...Slowly..... Just a suggestion, in the next update, can we truncate the blockchain so we don't have to have the whole thing? a year of microstaking has made this a monster. Times this by a half a dozen coins, and...well... how in the world are we ever going to convince folks that crypto is anything more then a PITA??

Just a suggestion, in the next update, can we truncate the blockchain so we don't have to have the whole thing? I don't know if that's ever been tried before. I'm thinking it hasn't lest bitcoin would have done it long ago. Can't remember exactly where it is, but there's a guy that offers bootstrap.dat file for an awful lot of coins. That would speed up the initial syncing of a brand new wallet.

There ya go, the guy with the bootstrap Thank you, I was/am aware of the bootstrap. I have a bit of time before I stake so elected not to use it. I am far more concerned about the issue of the blockchain size. If there is a way to address this, it would be an interesting way of differentiating ourselves from all the other coins. I am not a coder, so cannot speak to the challenges involved, but some intrepid and creative person could possibly do something here to make TEK so special that...Moon baby!!!! Anyhoo, the journey continues.

I posted this a while back, but the info is helpful also to those who are less technically knowledgeable. If you want to upgrade your wallet, just download the new one and use it. Simple as that. However, it is ALWAYS good to make a backup of your wallet.dat file and store it on a separate hard drive, flash drive, email works, but preferably somewhere safe and secure. Here are instructions that will help you access the file to backup and also redownload the blockchain if you wish. For those who are still having issues, all you need to do is redownload the blockchain by doing the following 3 steps: * Specific instructions are for Windows users, but these are the basic steps for everyone 1. Make a backup copy of your Tekcoin wallet.dat file in your Tekcoin folder (located at: C:\Users\[your admin user name]\AppData\Roaming). You should always have atleast one recent backup anyway. If not, do it now and store it in a separate folder or drive. * AppData folder is hidden by default. In this case; open "Folder and Search Options" in the Organize tab (in folder view), then select the "view" tab and select "show hidden folders, files, and drives" under "show hidden files and folders". You will no be able to see and access the AppData folder. 2. Delete everything in your Tekcoin folder. This will erase the blockchain data and allow the Tekcoin wallet to download a new blockchain upon your next startup of the Tekcoin wallet. You should also download the new wallet at this time from tekcoin.org if you have not yet done so. * Here is a direct link to the download page: http://tekcoin.org/?page_id=263. To significantly speed up the download (syncing your wallet), download the bootstrap and put the unzipped files directly into your tekcoin wallet before downloading the fresh blockchain. * Here is a direct link to the bootstrap: https://mega.nz/#!DoIS2SbR!mNd1rsrXTYP183QDuqP9vnfqBOn7HCfUrQpx2t0eKbA

One more thing. Updating to the new wallet will NOT in any way mess with your staking. Your coin age or days staking will remain the same.
With that said, I'm already liking this update very much!
Thank you!!!
