Yes, there are a lot of scammers now. And it makes me very upset. It seems to me that before they were much less. Now it is very difficult to find a good project for investment.

Not necessarily participate in all projects. It will be enough to invest your money in one of the two best, the main thing is to study them well.

Rather than that, I would say 90% of the ICO/project are not going to survive in 2 , 3 years...I read something about it..but again It pure speculation

Saw this study on twitter... https://twitter.com/Zeex_me/status/978981735101878272

I've seen a lot of people asking about how many legit ICOs there are, so I thought I'd share

Quote from the article: "The study begins by breaking down ICOs into 6 groups: Scam, Failed, Gone Dead, Dwindling, Promising, Successful. “On the basis of the above classification,” they wrote, “we found that approximately 81% of ICO’s were Scams, ~6% Failed, ~5% had Gone Dead, and ~8% went on to trade on a exchange.”

"Scams were defined by researchers as “Any project that expressed availability of [an] ICO investment (through a website publishing, ANN thread, or social media posting with a contribution address), did not have/had no intention of fulfilling project development duties with the funds, and/or was deemed by the community (message boards, website or other online information) to be a scam.”

DYOR people ...
Well anyone could never know, until the end of it.
This is the real nature of ICO, anyone could establish a website a team and a token. Sold it out, and then vanish.
this is real sad specially on the community. this attracts unwanted attention and negative side on crypto. and like as we see, some government wanted to regulate ICOs
to prevent such things. but for the time being, we really cannot know. Even in this forum, seen some promising at first. but some busted it out, but some made it to the end of the ICO and run.
this scam scheme has to stop. for the benefit of the community and the whole crypto world

Yeah, I agree concerning total amount of ICO. At the same time if you will use evaluation tools for ICO such as learning project whitepaper, team and etc you will be able to choose the best ICOs with low risk

Yes, they are. People are too much greedy, how can a man steal others valuable money!! Soon or later, they will curse. This year is an ico scam year maybe. Because many ICO Projects are scamming in this year where 2017 was the golden year for the crypto and ico too. I am fed up with scammers.

In fact, this is not so! Yes, many projects can not collect the necessary amount of investment, but this does not mean that they were a fraud! There are simply too many competitors on the market.

Since ico are getting indemand, most of it now are scams. After getting investments from the investor, dev will just runaway that easy! So we have to be carefull on investing our money! Take review of their website, whitepaper and especially team profile or linked in account

Well that is really not a good news to all investors of ICO. You must consider those people who've just got rich because of the ICO's that they are following some of them are now big traders for example those people who invested in ETH you know they are now rich. Not all ICO are scam but you must take the risk to win big.

It is necessary to separate the definition of scam and project which not able to collect money. If the ICO has not collected the intended amount, this does not mean that the project was conceived as a scam. Of course the percentage of the scams much smaller.

Yes, the rate of scam ico is very high that it is really making people to decline from investing in ico to avoid being scammed but if you take time to do a very solid research about a product before investing in it, you maybe among the lucky people in ico. I think something needs to be done to help reduce the rate of this scam icos.

They all are scams for me. They spend too much money on marketing instead of development. But they are still legit (like 10%)

The number of cco's in the currency market is constantly increasing. but I think some of them are scam. 80 percent is a very high rate so I do not agree.

I think most ICOs are risky. Just a little more risk. All projects do not really serve life, are ideas for the future so cannot avoid failure. Many projects with the intention of scam from the beginning are unavoidable to less knowledgeable investors. Therefore, it is necessary to cultivate knowledge before investing.

There are definitely ICO scams floating around. To consider it a "scam," The instigators must intentionally have no plans to build something, they only want to raise funds for their pockets. Yes, some may look like a scam, maybe it's just because they are incompetent to begin with - just armed with lofty goals in their whitepaper.
