Xeons seem to perform kinda bad, i get 44 hpm on 32 cores (2.2 ghz each) in 32 threads (getting less with 64) thats 1.375 hpm per thread vs 2.5 hpm per thread on an ivy i3
Its because you count HT as normal cores. So dont use HT or use better compiler It has 32 physical cores and 64 with HT, i7 perform better with threads = HT, guess xeons dont. And how should i use a better compiler on standard ubuntu? Maybe they dont mean better compiler but better compiler optimizations. For reference, the supplied client does 10hpm over 3 cores on a 4ghz i5-3570k with windows 7 64bit, on the same machine but in 64bit linux it does 40hpm over 4 cores. I have too wonder, considering how much ram this algo uses that maybe having lots of cores could be a bad thing when you only have 1 memory controller, it could become a choke point if the memory bus can't move data fast enough for all the cores. |

... going on for hours. Neither did this block seem to have been submitted. Only after I restarted it did it start syncing. For a small-time miner like me, orphans are a serious blow, especially an orphan caused like this... EDIT: My other processes also stopped syncing around 4200~4400... I'm also getting allot of this on a few of my servers. Can't figure out why. Closed the wallet and reopened, then its catches up sync Thats not good. This means I have to keep checking and loosing |

I think it is normal. I have 43 cores (non-HT) that have been working for 48 hours and have only found 4 blocks. I am trying to decide if I should go back to XPM or power up the other 88 cores I have but have to pay electricity for.... 10 hpm 3570k windows7 64

Guys, the momentum-proof-of-work algorithm is really slow to check a hash. Remember, you have to check a bunch of hashes until you find a collision (birthday problem), and then hash that collision to see if you are below the mandated number. My i7 desktop was able to do 10-12 per minute, which means that each hash check took like 6-7 seconds. The client doesn't stop the current cycle and sometimes you might find one where someone else found another one. Right now, there's one found every minute or so, which means that there's a good chance someone else finds another solution. |

Run "free -m" to see if it's dying due to memory starvation. You'll need ~750MB memory per thread, so make sure you have at least 6GB free. If you do and it still crashes, make sure you're running a 64-bit version of linux. |

Pretty normal. I've got about 300HPm in my farm with only 4 blocks since genesis Wow, unlucky! I got in about 12 hours late with one computer and found three blocks in 18 hours @ 6hpm |
