Looks like blockchain was just split again.

He is my most recent block

1      6661921931289285426      2389 %

Since the difficulty suddenly lowerer, I suspect that the blockchain got split.

Anyone check this for me to see if I am at a different branch now.

You need a little bit of catching up to do, but looks good.

Most recent one. Why the difficulty lower substantially compared to 20 minutes ago which consistently below 1000% ?

So... how many still feel that the attackers won?   Wink

Be proud people!   Grin

Well, they didn't really attack yet, it was just reconnaissance mission on their part.
Unless we get an army of public nodes running (thousands upon thousands) they'll bomb us into stone age next time Cheesy

I'd like to provide maximum benefit to the network.  It sounds like running a hallmarked node falls into this category.  What is hallmarking (I don't see it on the FAQ), how can I do it, and how much RAM should I have?

I have not set up any public nodes beside my local computers yet. But I am going to.

What are the most secure VPS ? I don't care about price. A couple of VPS has been suggested but I think we also need to diversify VPS hosting. The more diversified the merrier.

See my sig first line, I updated the guide for hallmarked nodes.
To explain more on hallmarking, need to dig thru this thread or wait till nextcoin.org is up and running, they had a topic with more details there. Or if someone has time to explain the whole concept of hallmarking here, please do so.

Searching for whether Bitcoin was in similar issues at some point I found this:

Bitcoin network recovering from DDoS attack

Published on June 25, 2013

and this:

The original source code for Bitcoin is full of such half-finished features. There was even the beginning of a rudimentary eBay-style bitcoin market buried in the original code, which the core development team walled off because it was never finished.

Just sign up at any host, and if you choose debian 7, 64-bit for OS follow my setup guide in the signature from the step where you connect to it using Putty.

www.webhostingtalk.com provides a lot of info on hosting, there are a lot of hosting offers from companies there, VPS and dedicated.

Is there any way to monitor the health of Nxt's network?  I'm curious how we're doing against the attack.

Since I haven't associated my node with an account, can't someone just point their browser to my node and do so themselves?  Is there any protection against this?

If you run a public node, anyone can access your node, unless you configure in web.xml only your, for example, home IP (if you have a static IP at home) to be able to access it.

this parameter:

 <param-name>allowedUserHosts</param-name>
                        <param-value>*</param-value>

put your static IP instead of *

Great news guys! Smiley

I modified the code for my faucet (http://coinarea.net) a little bit. It's now much easier for me to perform the giveaways. I just finished the 200 waiting addresses in a few minutes.

Please promote the site and donate some NXT to this address (16999902190493953875).

Thank you! Smiley

When we have Transparent Mining on we can always see who is forging and who is not (coz of being on other branch, for example).

CFB, how long does it take for a drifting node coming to the main branch ? Could it drift forever ?

Doesn't running "allowedUserHosts *" allow anyone to change any node to their account number?  I propose http authentication support for the nodes.
