Here is short description of API that I sent to nexern:

name = must contain only digits and latin letters, length from 3 to 10 chars
description = can contain any unicode symbols, length from 0 to 1000 chars, can be omitted
quantity = any qty from 1 to 1'000'000'000
fee = atm 1'000 NXT is min fee

Returns transaction id which is also asset id

yes it is a really problem i hope developer can solve it. several my aliases transactions have done and the record is listed in the account. but i cant find any alias in my account. it seems just the transaction not happpened but the fee is gone.

hey i have an idea. what if someone who is fully caught up posted their ip address here and i set that as my only well known peer. then i would have to get the right blockchain. right?

only if you banned all other peers, and just because someone is caught up doesn't mean they wont prove to have been on a fork later..  let the system figure itself out and remember, this is alpha.

well idk exactly what the code looks like but ideally even if you have 100 peers who all say the block chain is 2000 blocks long, if only 1 person says the blockchain is 2100 blocks long, you ping that person, ask for proof and if he supplies proof than the other 100 dont matter, you just ignore them. If i only have 1 known peer than i would have to be getting my other peers through him. even if he supplied me with 100 peers who all had the wrong chain it wouldnt matter because i would KNOW that i was connected to him and i would know that he had the right chain.

yeah and if he was faking it and you believed him and did a transaction then you lose. how would you KNOW he had the right chain? because he said so?

it is possible that he would only be sharing phony peers with you and that there was actually a longer chain out there somewhere that he wouldnt tell you about. still i dont understand how i can be connecting to so many of the peers from this list https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4178253#msg4178253 and not a SINGLE one of them knows of a SINGLE chain that is longer than 26244 blocks. its not a democracy, you dont need some majority to agree on what is the right chain, all i need is ONE person to be able to tell me about a longer chain. i just dont get it.

like I said, alpha. needs work. java app leaks RAM, so the nodes all get bloated and don't refresh. It's amazing what has been accomplished in a month, and CfB is killing it. This is still not yet functional for payments, nor should we expect it to be. help the community by spreading the word and gladly reinstalling it a couple times a day. stay fresh on the build and don't expect stability or to be forging blocks to get rich.. yet..

Might have been my fault, one of my nodes automatic script failed for some reason and that node was behind, it's fixed now, I'll keep an eye on that one and re-image if need be.

As fas as I can see with the https://localhost:7875/nxt?requestType=listAccountAliases&account=YOURACCOUNT link, I have successfully registered aliases, but they don't show up in my accounts.

I know this must be done manually, but it is slightly unsettling to not see them. 

Can this be resolved?

I've restarted start.jar a number of times, even after deleting blocks.nxt and transactions.nxt, and I still never get past block 22268. If I sit on it long enough, I can see more than 10 active peers and more than 500 known peers. Why am I repeatedly getting stuck on the same old block?

Coz most of these 500 known peers r not peers and u waste most of time trying to connect to them.

That's right. Switch "communicationLoggingMask" to "3" (in web.xml). I bet u'll see a lot of connection timeout error. This 1 peer with the longest chain is being bombarded with a lot of requests and can't respond to everyone.

Would not mind doing so at all, but I barely have time to keep up with this thread, much less figure put how to properly set up a public node. If someone could point me in the right direction (preferably how to set up a VPS), I would be happy to help.

Heey CfB:  so when our client's web interface page seems to get "stuck" on a block, and you tell us to hit f5 to fix, is it just a display problem?  in these cases is the actual java process itself at the wrong block and is it just a display of data issue?

If fee is gone, then aliases r assigned. Both or nothing. How do u check what aliases u own?

If after F5 u see all blocks back, then it's just a display problem.
