question - is there a way for other users of the NXT network to see what accounts are unlocked and forging on other nodes? Is there an API for this, or could this be deduced from looking at transactions on the block explorer for example. Does the answer depend on a things like hallmarking, fixed IP vs variable, the PC NXT is running on (OS, antivirus, firewall etc). I'm trying to assess the risks of being hacked while forging.

I saw earlier today someone reported losing NXT from an account. If it's possible to see what accounts are open on what nodes, then a hacker could see who has a big balance and target them. Is this a likely scenario?

I know this must be done manually, but it is slightly unsettling to not see them.  

Can this be resolved?

2. Block explorer shows the 240 NXT fees.

I might be a bit dumb here, but can the asset exchange feature be used to invest BTC in NXT? The description string of your sample asset above confuses me.

In a hindsight, I have really picked up an appropriate pseudonym. I never imagined I will make the progress from a forum Newbie to a Captain that fast.

I hereby appoint CfB as my First Officer.

Now that the USS NRS Enterprise has been making successful test flights, we have to get ready for our first trip outside the solar system, scheduled for Jan 03.

I am now proof-reading the code for any visible bugs. The memory leak has been fixed and I hope version 0.4.8 should have lower memory consumption and not require periodic restart. Next, there are some minor thread safety bugs I noticed that I will fix. I can also think of some optimization in the peer networking code, right now we create a lot of temporary byte[] and char[] that put extra load on the garbage collector and increase the memory usage too, but this is not urgent.

I need to do some refactoring of the code, because now everything is in one huge file. The parts that are to remain closed source will have to be factored out, as much as possible, in separate classes, so that they can be distributed in compiled form, still allowing one to work on the base open source part without having the complete source.

I also need to pick up a repository where we should host the source code, and prepare it for the Jan 03 launch. Probably github, but I need to investigate the alternatives.

I'm happy to hear such a skilled developer join the team. Looks like you know your stuff! Bitbucket is another alternative, though that is used mostly for private repositories (they are free over there, not so with github). Github is best for it's community.

edit: ie, when I plug in a peer's address and check it in my browser, I see this:

The Nxt faucet is working again! The node wasn't updating so for some reason it showed a negative balance. It's now back up and running:

2973 nxt given out to 1184 people so far.

yes it is a really problem i hope developer can solve it. several my aliases transactions have done and the record is listed in the account. but i cant find any alias in my account. it seems just the transaction not happpened but the fee is gone.

If fee is gone, then aliases r assigned. Both or nothing. How do u check what aliases u own?

Some aliases may be unconfirmed but AS transactions r atomic. If u don't get an alias then u get ur money back. Check if u have unconfirmed transactions pending, they lower ur balance.

I will wait for the alias show in my account, hope the alias can be tranfered soon for it is significant if nxt alias is the first transferable alias, dont let some coins else be the first.

As fas as I can see with the https://localhost:7875/nxt?requestType=listAccountAliases&account=YOURACCOUNT link, I have successfully registered aliases, but they don't show up in my accounts.

I know this must be done manually, but it is slightly unsettling to not see them.  

Can this be resolved?

Damelon, same issue.

1. I registered about 240 aliases.
2. Block explorer shows the 240 NXT fees.
3. http://localhost:7874/nxt?requestType=listAccountAliases&account=13891739725946840876 shows all of the aliases I registered
4. Block explorer says I have 15 aliases, but only displays 10

Very disconcerting. I think I read somewhere that someone is manually updating the aliases to appear on Block explorer?

hi swartzfeger you are right,
i can see your complete aliases but only a couple are shown.
there is a bug in transaction<->alias mapping, preventing showing all.
i am solving this issue today.
