It's a dedicated server with a few nodes on a 100 mb/s connection, not a vps. I have a hosted dedicated server I could use for this. Is the key to hallmark it with a lot of Nxt so it will be heavily utilized? I wouldn't want the resources to go to waste. Yes, one hallmarked VPS per IP, how many IPs does it come with? How much RAM?

Instead of requiring an account to be online and unlocked in order to forge, why not require its hallmark to be online? It accomplishes the same thing you're describing but it would be much more secure because the passphrase wouldn't be left exposed in memory.

Until a network of thousands public nodes is built, DDOS will be successful more or less, and will be disrupting normal functioning. They will always keep DDOSing now.

Since CfB already slept, can laowai or any other with technical knowledge answer me this question.
I am connected to the network using my local computer without hallmark. I don't care about forging benefit but I would like to support the network as much as I can. Does my computer help the network ? or does it just cause more stresses to some of your hallmarked nodes ? If my node does not help the network, I would like to close my computer now so I can concentrate on some writing for alias system and asset exchange.

omg i see that too?
Is the chain broken now?
Seems we're in fork since 24160 (enormous timestamp diff. 2:50 - 2:58). I'm intrested if I'll catch up with main chain w/o interaction.

wtf is that? omg i see that too? Is the chain broken now? That's one hell of a TX fee. I would not worry about it. NXT, so far, has been quite robust. It will probably get rejected as invalid.

NXT----obviously, it's a great idea! but it's too hard to use, we cann't spend whole time to keep eye on the screen to check if the block stucked or not. if no one could solve this ploblem, i dare to say: NXT will disappear soon. the good idea must supported by easy way to use ,but NXT.....
Any new thing is hard to use. The first car was terrible to use, the first bike, the first vacuum cleaner, washing machine etc. etc. etc. Things get better with time. I´ve spent most of the day (for perspective) reading old old threads and articles about Bitcoin. It´s a hoot! In almost every thread you saw people putting it down and mocking it in terms of "it´s for nerds and will never get anywhere". I am willing to bet quite a lot of money that these people are groaning very loudly since april and/or the beginning of december. Only time will tell, but don´t come complaining if you missed yet another boat. maybe you are right! but be sure, i will complaining if i missed the baot and cann't aboard a ship.

I am not exactly sure, but I think writing for the alias system and asset exchange are much more useful right now Local computer helps the network only minimally as far as I can deduce, maybe even hurting at the time of DDOS, which is going on right now and it's big.

You can run a single instance too, if you can run a high Weight value node off it, otherwise it'd be waste of resources. For small Weight values, it's better to set up 4 VPSs with 1 GB RAM.

block 24168 just arrived 2022567515111486500 319%
anyone, confirm?
but it took 30+ mins, because the DDOS targets hallmarked nodes and they can't sync the chain due to being busy serving illegit requests.
We need more hallmarked nodes, several orders of magnitude more hallmarked nodes.

I don't see it anymore and I don't see it accepted into the block chain, so it seems to have been rejected.

In any case, it seems it was rejected by the software. Nice work NXT developers.
