Normal. You can replace an alias URI with a new URI, even if it is the same URI. I consider it a bug, but CfB says it is a feature
James
Maybe i can't understand you properly, but i talk about two same aliases. First is "lr127" (URI is "id:11017826896") and second is "lr127" (same URI "id:11017826896"). I wanted to buy one alias and spend 1 NXT, not 2. But when i query: http://node1.nxtbase.com:7874/nxt?requestType=listAccountAliases&account=11017826896I see only one alias "lr127". As expected. The operation of creating an initial alias, and the operation of changing an existing alias URI are both done with the same API call. It is the state of the alias being null or not that determines which operation is performed. Petition the maker of your NXT client to add a time check to prevent this from happening in the future.

The first one created the alias, the second one replaced destination. James
Thanks! I did not know that the replacement works, I thought this feature is not yet implemented. Petition the maker of your NXT client to add a time check to prevent this from happening in the future.
It's Firefox fault. Not mine or my app .

How's the code review going? Also, why aren't investors cashing out more coins? Still waiting to buy some at 0.00004. GO GO GO.

James
Why would you even consider that a bug? What con's do you have in mind? What value is there in changing an aliases URI to the exact same URI. Nothing changed, why should that get accepted? Why not get an error like "you must have submitted duplicate URI", especially if it happens very close in time. James Ah okay I misunderstood you. "Normal. You can replace an alias URI with a new URI, even if it is the same URI. I consider it a bug, but CfB says it is a feature" I thought you consider the replacement of a URI with a new URI a bug. But you meant the replacement of a URI with the exactly same URI. My bad

Will you commit to announcing ahead of time any fee INCREASES?
This fee increase was a mistake, yet seemed like the only option. I had to cover my ass in case the source release had exploded the price 3x...4x... god knows how much, every percent tightening the deficit rope around my neck more and more. It now seems the deficit is just not as great as initially thought, yet still considerable and needs to be recovered through the very moderate fees now applied. why the intentional outage to coincide with exact time of src release. You really shouldn't expect malevolent intent, nor such stupid behavior from your peers. We had a serious security breach the night before that had to be patched no matter what price. Things usually just coincide and they do escalate, giving a false impression. I appreciate the more constructive dialogue I'm perceiving.

It's Firefox fault. Not mine or my app . Oh, hey, I missed that you were the author of a NXT app. Sorry about that. But now that I have your attention, would you consider two things: 1. Append a check digit to an account number. It could be something as simple as adding up each individual numbers in an account and doing a MOD 10 on the result. Doesn't really matter, but we need to have some sort of sanity check for the user. 2. Parse alias strings as JSON arrays. There may be multiple pieces of data connected at once with one alias: a web page, an email address, an ICQ address, a NXT account number, a bitcoin account, etc. There needs to be a sanity check done by alias queries also, since there is a potential attack there. For example: Let's say a large NXT account holder is account number 12345. Another account holder, 6789 let's say, could register the alias 12345 and have it point to his own account. So now you have the alias nxt:12345 -> acct:6789@nxt Clients that allow sending transactions to accounts found in aliases must not send to nxt:12345 as that'll go to an address the user may not have intended to send to.

If I am getting good constructive dialog, that is what I do. I can understand how you didn't want to publicize a security breach. I assume that is what caused the bulk of the 800K loss and not any bugs in NXT, other than typo caused darkNXT. All NXT owners are in the same boat and we all want to help each other. Even yuriygeorge! Hey, any new pretty charts? James

James +1 Due to some issues on my side with Java sort of freezing on random I've burned at least 50 NXT on resubmitting same aliases. Same alias, same URL. But there is one another thing that bothers me and that is no confirmation dialogue of any sort in case alias is available. Many times I would like to just check alias status, nothing more but basically, just like I'm practically forced to use 3rd-party services to check blockchain data with Bitcoin even tough I have full blockchain locally with Bitcoin-Qt, that same way NXT is forcing me to use 3rd-party services to just check alias availability. That or I might burn 1 NXT on alias that I actualy do not want to register.

Since I need to take a day off of programming, here's the first version of my, yet unnamed, NXT client for Windows. ...
I'm releasing version 1.1. of my Windows NXT client (still no personal account management, NTX transfer options in it or anything that needs your account secret). Changed for v1.1: - Fixed a large memory leak
- Added aliases in block chain explorer
- Faster program startup, since Blockain Explorer data is now loaded the first time you access the BC Explorer tab
- Added support for HTTPS connection to NRS. Default NRS API URL is now "https://127.0.0.1:7875"
- Added logging capabilities (not yet utilized thoroughly)
If you previously tried v1.0, please overwrite all existing files, with the files in this zip archive. NXTclient-v1.1.zip (31.9 MB) - Download hereSHA256 checksum for NXTclient-v1.1.zip: CE4A90E49AED8407F9899C06D0B3D8E19F8C739339D2597D0B6AE227B5355274 Next on my TODO list: - Send NXT function and personal account management
- Decide which name to use - thanks for your suggestions!
- Profiling the code to optimize block chain explorer loading speed
- Beautifying the GUI
Thanks a lot to the two people who have made a donation for this project! About to check this out. Very happy to see a Win client on the way!

Was BCNext developing a new currency? I recall someone (Come-from-Beyond?) mentioned it somewhere few days ago, here or at next coin.org. But I cannot find the post anymore. Even the name of the project was mentioned and something about five or six months if I recall.. Just curious. It was a reply for someone asking about BCNext leaving the board.
