Have a look at this comment from Daira (Developer for ZCash): Those of you who will not receive your Z9 until August might begin sweating profusely in the near future.

mmm I wonder if I can convince bitmain to sell me that endpiece grille, I removed one fan on my B3 and that piece looks nice!
I could be wrong but I think it's already under the baffle on the B3. If you really want that look, it's only a couple screws to find out.

Potential Equihash Algorithm Change Preparation
Modifying ZenCash to use Equihash-144-5 is doable, and the software development team has started identifying the specific work that would need to be done in order to create and test this change. It would be a Hard Fork change, and for optimal success of the Hard Fork, it would be best to implement such a proposed change as quickly as reasonably possible before too many ASIC miners take over the hashrate of ZenCash.
...right. And nothing in what you just posted says they will or will not fork, just that they are leaning towards it. There's been no decision made yet.

I've seen Rob post too much saying there WILL be a fork. They're simply not rushing into it. However, it will be done "as quickly as reasonably possible."

Here's a video of mining ZEC at AntPool for quite some time. I want you to see what you're about to COMPETE against. You'll see, "It's NO CONTEST." Also, the Z9 "Mini" was named "Mini" for a reason. You're about to compete with Z9 "Beast." Of course, you're not going to hear about "Beast." You're not privy to the "Beast." But I do have common sense. Bitmain does have a larger version of the Z9 and have probably mined with it for quite a while now. They decided to make "Mini" to have it in a price range available to more potential buyers. If they revealed "The Beast," at 30k sol's or higher, not many of you could afford what they would ask for it. Hence, Z9 "MINI." Z9 working with nicehash. Had to set the difficulty manually. Still playing with that though.
Would you mind sharing your NH BTC address so we can see what it looks like pool side? If not, a screenshot would suffice. Thanks! Still like to see a pic of the unit. I understand it has a single fan and is a lot shorter than the S9's. Here's the best I could do. I got my gf to snap one with my old S5 next to it for size comparison. https://image.ibb.co/dYaqnd/IMG_2944.jpgvery nice I 'll say overclock it, attach one S5 fan to it (or other fan) if you worried about temp

The fan on it so far is holding up just fine, I'm at about 35-40% oc with 0 HW and temps in the high 50s. It's just not...as quiet as it was at stock, but I moved it to the basement so all is well. I think it can go further, but right now I'm good with those numbers. EDIT: also neither of those fans is the stock S5 one, which is ridiculously loud (that's actually being used as a duct exhaust on a sound dampened setup right now). Those are the same fans I also have now on my B3, a high pressure corsair for the push and a low noise exhaust. Pretty damned quiet, I still run it in the living room on cold nights.

It still works, too! And nah, I think we've covered most of it here. I'm content with my current oc and temps and am just planning to leave it humming away for as long as I can (since it generates next to no heat and uses the same electricity as leaving the basement lights on and all). EDIT: but I will make this one! https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4404847

It would be nice to see the insides of this miner. Probably will be a while before someone publishes an disassembled review and void their warranty.
Its really crazy how they managed to make it so small and yet so powerful. Also the power consumption is very low compared to GPUs.
If none of the Equihash coins fork... then its game over for most Nvidia's GPUs and older AMD cards.

Looks like the Z9 (Non-mini) will be about 30-40 KH/s or so. According to the Bitmain tweet https://twitter.com/JihanWu/status/1002814753469706245So basically equivalent to about ~133 Radeon R9 280X. Looks like the Nvidia people are going to be upset also.

As I've been telling everyone here, "YOU will be competing against BITMAIN and their Z9 "BEAST" [Which they simply call, "Z9" and NOT "mini"]; "NOT" GPU's." Everyone of you who purchase the mini will be in for a rude awakening. But your greed clouds your judgement. Most have to learn the hard way like I did. Learn what? That BITMAIN is a plague to crypto currency. They are liars about not having mined ZEC privately/secretly WITH THE Z9 (not "mini"). They are even mining with mini's others of you bought for August/September delivery before actually shipping them off to you.
