GPU mining is the most decentralized, but it is constantly being oppressed by companies such as Bitmain, GPU soon will be kiked out from Equihash, I also heard that some Ethash miner  announced, which gives 1800 Mh/s, soon all mining will only be on ASICs Sad

Quoting just a performance number is pretty much meaningless, as you can stick an arbitrary number of mining boards in a box.

The most interesting metric is efficiency (energy per Mh) and the second most is price ($ per Mh).

When batch-one went up for sale I believe WTM said $40/day. It's now 5 weeks later and closer to $30/day. By the time most of batch-one gets tossed in the mail in 3 weeks it could be closer to $25/day? That would put ROI between 3-4 months. Even if batch-two arrived in Sept at around $15/day that would still be about 3x what GPUs pay-out at 300w - so batch-two could ROI in 2018.

But that's a complete guess on the daily returns, and is assuming ZEN+ZEC are both still around by the end year to prop up the current Equihash algo. Cross your fingers! Smiley

Being able to OC quite high will definitely help, too.

Plus the market is low now, so real profits will be almost double when the bull returns assuming you hold or convert to BTC.

how high you tried OC this Z3mini?

When batch one gets tossed in the mail it won't be $25 a day. It will probably be more like $10 a day after 3 weeks and it will keep going down weekly. Succeeding batches only have a chance to get price decreased because the cost of the Z9 has significantly reduced. It's now dow to a whopping $850 from original SRP at $1950, and this is probably for good reason.

And now people start realizing that dmwardjr was right from the begining. 90% or more of buyers won't ROI, and bitmain would have make boats of crypto / cash by 1st mining the coin, then selling "bricks to come" to regular people dreaming of fast cash.

I bet you are wrong.  I bet all batch 1 buyers can ROI in less than 200 days.

I think people from batch 1 should still write Bitmain and complain, maybe they will give us a second miner from batch 2 instead of the stupid coupons.. I did my part and wrote on twitter and also created support ticket. If everybody does this, maybe we can achieve something.

If ZEC forks, there is no way to ROI in such short period.

If ZEC forks, not even batch 1 will ROI if they fork in July.  Which I find unlikely.  If ZEC forks in August, then Batch 1 will ROI more than likely.  All batches afterwards will be in serious trouble.

I would not be surprised if these other manufacturers announcing rigs for sale with 40k and 50k sol's see the writing on the wall and are beginning to sell USED hardware that they clean up real good before shipping to buyers.  This is looking very similar to Cryptonight before the fork to Cryptonight V7.

That is a very big IF there remains any coins on equihash to mine in 200 days, and IF Inno and others don't flood the market with miners more efficient than the Z9 which right now looks like exactly what is happening.  So I don't know that it is a shoe in that anyone in Batch 1 of this miner are going to ROI.

The worthless coupon nonsense from Bitmain on batch 1 is nothing but infuriating.

One "potential" negative thing that can be looked at as a positive if true:

If the other manufacturers are selling used equipment as new, then no more hash rate is being added to the network.  Simply hash rate exchanging hands.  I would find it VERY risky for a manufacturer to continue manufacturing more Equihash ASIC's.  So, batch 1 may still ROI if that's the case.  My opinion...

Zec won't fork, at least for Batch1. Bitmain's already paid them. Thats why if you look at the price point of the Z9 batch 1 it started immediately at $2000 compared to the E3's initial price at $800. They couldn't buy Ethereum. It actually says about the dev teams. Ethereum is incorruptible, but Zec is a shitload of money hungry sluts.

theres no proof that zec team got paid its a rumor, ppl are even saying eth team got paid all that makes no sense
these devs have millions upon millions, they don’t need any money from bitmain

Zec wont fork at all even after recent 51% atacks zooko started talking more how asics are good for network(even tho those 51% atacks are being done probably with use of those same asics)looks like 20% of every block isnt enough for him Undecided All other equihash coins are forking(except komodo)probably to modifed equihash version(zhash) that need 2,5gb ram i think
