I thought Zen was forking in July?

Their blog post https://blog.zencash.com/zencash-statement-on-potential-equihash-algorithm-change/ says they have a general project upgrade at the start of July, then will try to fork 4-6 weeks later?

If you are in the US,  is it possible to pay the driver on delivery with cash or personal check?   I've made a UPS account and entered payment details, but I see no way to assign the shipping invoice to my account for online payment.

Delivery drivers in the US won't take cash.  And I am sure they won't take personal checks either.  I have been shipping since the 1980s.  C.O.D. used to be a popular option but went away a long time ago.  Driver's didn't want the responsibility and the risks.

You should find your local UPS office and try to pay there.  Might be able to pay at a UPS store.

UPS drivers take checks. They can't take credit cards in person, but they can if you call the dispatch office.

EDIT: for customs fees. Not sure about COD, but I assume they can as well if they knock on your door (if they take it on the truck for delivery they have to be able to accept payment somehow).

Get used to it, at least as long as we have this administration. This is what a trade war looks like.

This has nothing to do with that. The import fee + brokerage fee was always there for higher-priced miners. Best way to deal with it is to have it billed to your FedEx/UPS account. No delays that way.

Tariffs on electronics have increased, so what you pay for importing them is higher than it was. I've been ordering electronics from China for years, and the past month what UPS has charged has increased significantly (in comparison to previous fees, not product price).

Or you can roll the dice with DHL. I've had good luck with them, and so far haven't been charged import fees, I've heard that it's hit and miss but when you ARE charged the items are held in customs until you pay (again, HEARD, all I know personally is that the last two miners I bought were shipped DHL and just delivered with no extra fee). UPS is more consistent, but I have always had to pay the import fee.

Playing with overclocks and fanspeeds...anyone have any guesses what PCB & Chip temps are the limits for a Z9?

I've had my chip temps hit 70 with no HW errors. No idea for longevity, but you're overclocking to that degree you're really only looking for it to work for a couple months anyway, so why worry?

I contacted UPS.  There is a phone number you can call to make payment over the phone,  or you can just pay the driver with personal check on delivery.  No cash as you stated, but checks are fine.

Powermining have opened Equihash stratum on our Yiimp mining pool! Currently, only Zen - But more to come!

Our Equihash stratums are optimized to handle high-performance miners like Z9 and A9. GPU Miners are welcome also, but recommended to use a minimum of 6xGTX1080ti.

Connection Details:
Coin: ZenCash
Stratum: stratum+tcp://pool.powermining.pw:2142
User: your zencash address(prefix: zn....)
Password: can be anything, use this to recognize your miner on pool by applying Z9-1

To see details for your miner, go to https://www.powermining.pw/?address=YOURWALLETADDRESS

Example:

Z9 Handles overclocking very well, 15k is no problem, been running straight for 10 hours with 0 rejects!

Hi Mr. Vosk!

Our pool is based on Proportional scheme(PROP). This means that payments will only happen after a block have been submitted and accepted by the network, and then all users will receive their portion based on number of shares based on difficulty(minus pool fees). Do keep in mind that, to get 1 valid share does not mean that the share you sent to the pool actually is counted as 1 share. Lets say to get 1 share, you need to have a share with a difficulty of 1 - but the share you sent have a difficulty of only 0.33, that means you will need ~3 shares in that diffiulty to be counted as 1 share. We are probably one of the very few that actually have this scheme for Zencash, Proportional scheme is great if you do a lot of profit switching, in the end Proporitonal and PPLNS will payout more or less the same over time.

I threw a Current Transformer on my Z9 and here are the readings at 650 MHz (starting at 10:30 am), and at 750 MHz (starting at 11:00 am):

Miner status window running at 750 MHz for a little over 30 mins:

When I played around with OC settings yesterday in the 600's, nothing over about 650 seems to do anything, but Vosk showed me his running solid at 750, so I figured why not.  Smiley

So 50 more watts for another ~ 1,700 Sols definitely seemed worth it to me, as long as it doesn't blow up before earnings are less than power cost.

Check the fine print on the invoice.

1) UPS is screwing you, or
2) Bitmain put a different HTS code on the customs paperwork.

Trump tariffs don't take effect until July. Affected HTS codes:

Thanks, just upped mine to 750mhz as well, seems to be stable!

Im using a 1400W Dell server PSU, which outputs 12.9V, pulling 393W at the wall @ 750mhz.

For those of you who overclock, especially going right to 750 - do you have to set the fan to 100% RPM? Or does it automatically ramp up with temperature? From the few videos I've seen so far, the stock settings seem not to be so loud... but the full-rpm noise (heard during bootup?) sounds a bit much.

If you're going to put a Z9 Mini in a room in your house, maybe you'll have to dial in an acceptable fan RPM first... then slowly up the overclocks until the chip temps hold 65 degrees?

So considering I purchased one @ $850 for shipment in late August, are the chances of me making any profit from mining with this slim? Also does Bitmain ever ship batches early?

I would use a $420 or less coupon to lower initial cost. If you don't have a coupon you can buy here on selling forum or on eBay.

That’s actually what I did - found a $420 coupon someone was selling for $150. Ended up paying $782.73 total for the miner, APW3 PSU, and DHL shipping to the US. I almost ended up getting 2x of them with two coupons but the wait time turned me off from doing so, since I didn’t know what would happen between then and late August.

I guess worst case scenario, I’m pretty sure I can resell the miner to someone in the US and make my money back. Seems like there’s always people wanting ASICs, even if they’re not even profitable after paying for power. Never understood that. Btw has anyone purchased a single miner and shipped with DHL to the US? If so, how much did you pay in duties/fees? I heard from someone else that miners are exempt from duties in the US, but that seems false since i highly doubt that shipping companies even know what miners are. I actually purchased a Trezor from Switzerland and it was shipped out via DHL, didn’t have to pay any duties or anything like that. Could this also be the case with the miner I purchased?

Needed fan speed depends on environment temperature. As an example, mine are located where environment temp are ~20c with a static fan speed of 85% now Z9`s chip temperature is about 63c. At that noise level i would not have it in house.

By default its set to automatically adjust fan. I just dont trust that one when i OC.
