my difficulty showed really low for a minute in the wallet.

is that a reliable place to see difficulty?

No, it's possibly a PoS diff, which is always very low. I'd use daemon to check:

# graind.exe getmininginfo
{
    "blocks" : 39659,
    "currentblocksize" : 1000,
    "currentblocktx" : 0,
    "difficulty" : 0.08955720,
    "errors" : "",
    "generate" : false,
    "genproclimit" : -1,
    "hashespersec" : 0,
    "networkhashps" : 14803536,
    "pooledtx" : 0,
    "testnet" : false
}

thanks im figuring it out, that's a better command.

I don't know what i did wrong. I put the grain.conf file in the roaming/grain folder, deleted the 0001 and index files and the database directory. Then ran the qt with the new file and still isn't sinking properly. Keeps saying there is 3000 odd left to go (total 42000 odd blocks)

This is soooooo frustrating  gggggggrrrrrrraaaaaa

update mine has decided it is now up to date according to the wallet @ 39742 block

{
"blocks" : 39745,
"currentblocksize" : 1000,
"currentblocktx" : 0,
"difficulty" : 0.11305726,
"errors" : "",
"generate" : false,
"genproclimit" : -1,
"hashespersec" : 0,
"networkhashps" : 16919068,
"pooledtx" : 0,
"testnet" : false
}

so its no longer looking at the previous chain anymore right?

*edit* also I have surpassed my previous level of grain woot!

yes I have solo mined a bunch even when my wallet said its not synced. u can probably mine now and its fine. once u get a block u watch and make sure it gets confirmed and all that. if not u have a problem.
