Seriously hope those who have bought, will start mining come 1st May at least.
The best predictor of future behavior is relevant past behavior. BFL has consistently announced impossible ship dates and highly optimistic specs, then dramatically missed on both. Odds are that they've done it again. You'll be lucky to be mining by November 1.

Well, the shipping information on the Monarch 300 product page says: Shipping Schedule
This is a Pre-Order product which is not yet shipping. If you're uncomfortable waiting until the development is complete and the product is shipped, do NOT pre-order this product. Perhaps undesirable, but this is a pre-order market. Customers flatly demand to get in line for the new technology before it's finished development. This has created a lot of drama for the manufacturers but it's something we simply have to deal with. All manufacturers in this space have experienced some degree of delay with their first generation ASIC. Every last one of them, so we're reluctant to give a specific delivery date. However, this is our second generation, so we have much greater clarity on the process and plan to begin shipments in January 2014. Orders are shipped in order date priority so any order placed now should be expected to be delivered in March. https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage-new-products/300-gh-bitcoin-mining-card.html (they have changed this shipping schedule at least twice that I know of, it use to say end of the year meaning Dec 2013, not Jan 2014) Which sounds close to where they are at. Of course if these 28nm chips don't meet the power projections like the problems BFL had with the 65nm ones, then things could get ugly, not sure what their fallback strategy would be, multiple cards I guess.

So... 300 GH/s at $2800 delivered in Mid March or most likely a lot later for anyone ordering today at the cheaper price?
That is over $9 gh/s for the card not including psu, casing, hosting and our favorite EXPEDITED shipping, in Mid March if you were first to order or "upgraded".
Let's see, $9/GH for something delivered several months from now, or $10/GH (Bitmain) delivered next week. I don't like calling people names, but you'd have to be a blooming idiot to order from BFL!

The BFL 300GH/s Monarch is $1,497 for the March batch not $2,800. So that's $5 per GH/s. https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage-new-products/300-gh-bitcoin-mining-card.htmlThe Dec->Feb batch was $2,800 Actual Monarch wafer at their testing facility: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/attachments/announcements/2697d1389811128-monarch-information-dsc_1162.jpgOnly 104 chips per wafer does that sound right?

I also suspect that the people buying the devices are "getting a great deal." Can someone tell me when the 13Month mark is from the day one monarch pre-orders? I'd like to know when these will ship out.

LOL. "March batch". ROFLMAO. No order placed with BFL now is going to be delivered in March. They stated in and before August 25th that shipping would be October / November then after orders after the 25th of August 2013 they notified that shipping would be November / December was the first and second GUESSTIMATE from BFL and now the "Estimate" is End of January / February. How about we just use October as what they said and stick with that. Clock now reads 3 months and counting. 10 more months to hit the magical 13 months.

BFL's announced wafers are in the testers hands now, as well. https://forums.butterflylabs.com/announcements/4414-monarch-information.html#post74677I thought it was interesting, it appears that out of a 12" wafer they're getting 96 dies and if my scaling is correct (and the picture was taken at a reasonably normal angle) the die appears to be about 25mm square, or a bit over 600mm^2. That is a mammoth die.

I noticed that too. Let's hope that doesn't bite them in the ass. On the plus side, it really means they shouldn't have any issue with power density if they hit their targets. They're advertising 300GH/s from one 600mm^2 die, and 0.6J/GH at the card level so no more than 0.5J/GH at the chip level. If they can actually hit 150W per die, it should be relatively simple to cool.

I can't believe people are still buying hardware from these incompetent scammers. Someone actually had a topic the other day listing the Monarch orders... if I had ordered a Monarch I would lay low, rather than let the others assume I am suffering from either acute laziness or some sort of mental deficiency. It is hard to believe a person sound of mind that has done their research will buy anything from this company.

You better hope that BFL don't ship the Monarchs or the BTC diff is going to go through! I guestimate over 30TH/s per wafer.

Hope? Don't think we have to hope too hard. When they start to ship, BFL will "ramp up" production to 5 units a day. The only ones screwed by the difficulty will be the people who were stupid enough to purchase BFL gear. History has a tendency to repeat itself, I don't expect anything less. I mean really, they're already 3 months behind schedule and there's nary a working prototype to be found.
