i wonder what to choose...
a 0 fee PPS with 1% stales?
a 4% fee PPS with stratum?  (~0.2% stales)
a 2% "prop" with stratum? (~0.2% stales)

anyone good in maths? :p

Updated.

Please post any errors or further updates. If you do have errors or updates, please bold your post to make it easier for me to find when I do the weekly update.

Also, since there are so many changes happening at the moment, I'm considering letting each pool have a couple of sentences at the end of the OP to discuss things like upcoming projects and changes. If you'd like e to do this, please PM me with the two sentences or a very short paragraph, with the subject name: "[poolname] mining pools list statement" where [poolname] is, you guessed it, your pool name.

Anyone think this is a bad idea?

Did you look at pools that pay for stales?

yeap! but since the fee is larger than the stale rate of the 0 fee pool, there is no gain Wink

Well, if you get the jump on most of the rest of us you probably should solo mine, at first anyway.

I will not be among first, but I guess it has to be some sort of pool that give your true input in, so if I make 20% of the block that's what I want. So which one that would be?

That sounds like you want proportional.  They are in this threads list.

if any of the proportional pools are able to support ASIC load, most of the prop pools seem undermaintained or changing to fair payout systems.
I would suggest a pool running stratum that has variable difficulty working properly Smiley
If you are not going to be the among the 1st, look at what is happening with pools and the 1st people, too early now to decide imo. Do research - for sure, make a decision - too early.

Done.

Is this a recent change? Maybe something you'd planned on incorporating after block reward halving?

I started paying for fees this week, and yes, it is as a "compensation" to miners for lower block rewards...

I'm seriously considering turning off namecoin.  It's a pain in the ass, buggy as hell and basically worthless.
Two months ago I'd have whined about this but I've changed my mind.  Go for it.  Unless someone steps up to work on ithe project very, very soon it's all but dead.  Mining on stratum now, not earning any NMC and not missing it.  I know several other pool ops have also hinted they'd like it to go away.  You guys should all just rip that band-aid off at the same time and get it over with.

BTC Guild turned it off on all the default servers, it's only available on a separate getwork-only server.  Slush disabled it on Stratum (unless he added it back later) as well.

Correct, only old getwork backend is mining namecoins. As percentage of Stratum miners is going up (currently at 51%), namecoin will die on my pool as well :-(. It looked promising for me, but the project is practically dead since merged mining has been introduced.

I've been meaning to make a comment saying that it looks liked Merged Mining killed the Namecoin project.

We are similar to slush, for DGM ecoinpool nodes are still getwork and doing merged mining, stratum nodes have no merged mining - the much lower stale rate and Variable Difficulty is a trade-off for missing MM rewards Wink
ecoinpool  and stratum are both paying TXN fees on ozcoin

I think lack of development killed the Namecoin project, if not for MM it would be dead and gone by now.

BTCWarp is PPLNS, intentionally misleading English speaking miners.   They are trying to completely penalize hoppers...switching to PPLNS mid block.  So late hop them?

Let's hear your opinions for P2LS + PPLNS.
Hopper is now definitely can not take the cream and if you're working on a long block to the full hash rate and then in a few short drop machines will not run out of BTC.
To me it happened to one of 8 million, I 8Ghash/si had then encountered a few short fuses and I broke out and remained at half power ... because the block was short payment system was PPLNS and I got my part. Usledelo is a couple of short blocks and I am satisfied with the payment unlike P2LS where the very short blocks Hopper again get a good portion of the pie.
'We also had luck that we are in the last week opened a lot of short blocks so we fill this loss of those mega blocks ...
