NOW LAUNCHED - EarthCoin

http://www.earthcoin.biz/images/earthcoin_intro.PNG

Official Website:
http://earthcoin.biz/

About EarthCoin

Do we REALLY need another ALT?

*It's happening, they're everywhere! Nothing is stopping anyone from
launching their own project/coin/crypto.

However, due to the recent cluster* in the market we're all seeing developers
and teams try to bring something to market that will last, and all we get
are quick short lifecycles and 20 more coins before your portfolio can even
 mature from last weeks launches...

Our goal isn't to compete, as much as compliment, create balance, and
not divert into launching 9 more coins because we can. Instead, we'd like to
see what kind of actual substance and value we can create with a coin that
represents us all. No matter what race, age, ethnicity, we're all a part
 of this beautiful planet, and who knows maybe this tiny lil' grass roots
 idea might be enough to unite some/many of us!

--------------------------------
EarthCoin is a new generation scrypt coin that is a descendant of Litecoin.
Like Litecoin - it uses scrypt as a proof of work scheme.

EarthCoin uses a 365 day period. It will start with 10,000 coins per block,
and it varies in a sine curve with amplitude of 2,000, with a period of
one year (like the Earth moving around the Sun).

This means that you start with 10,000 coins, and it adjusts at each block,
 reaches a maximum of 12,000 coins per block after about 3 months, then
 it will descend gradually to approx 10,000 coins per block again at about
 6 months. Then a new minimum of 8000 coins per block at about 9 months.

Then we reverse that - to climb and return to 10,000 coins per block at
one year, before finally cutting the payout in half.

http://www.earthcoin.biz/payout-chart.png

Every 14 days there will be one day with X2 payout.
Every 31 days there will be one day with X5 payout.

Day 1 - Day 3 are special super rewards days to celebrate the launch
of the coin, and provide incentive to the early adopters.

Day 1: X5 payout
Day 2: X3 payout
Day 3: X2 payout

Premined 2% for promotions, giveaway, bounties, dev and long term support.

Other Specifications:
 - 60 seconds block target
 - Difference retargets each block
 - Total coins will be 13.5 billion coins
 - 5 confirmations for transaction
 - 50 confirmations for minted blocks
 - support transaction message
 - normal block on average 10000 coins per block, varies seasonly
 - The block payout will be halved every year, minimum payout 1 coin per block

 - The default ports are 15677 (Connect) and 15678 (RPC)

Giveaway thread will be created later. Bounties will be announced too.

How to Start
Using the following nodes to join the network:

addnode=75.70.192.211
addnode=135.0.165.152
addnode=77.244.7.167
addnode=188.194.13.44
addnode=24.151.4.241

Sample .conf File: earthcoin.conf
listen=1
daemon=1
server=1
rpcuser=**Yourusername**
rpcpassword=**Yourpassword**
rpcport=15678
rpcconnect=127.0.0.1
addnode=77.244.7.167
addnode=188.194.13.44

How to Solo Mine

1. Start up earthcoin-qt, wait for it to load, then exit.
2. Put earthcoin.conf (see sample file above) in your c:/users/**yourcomputername**/AppData/Roaming/EarthCoin
3. restart earthcoin-qt, and you should connect and sync.
4. For solo mining, launch cgminer or the mining program you use and begin mining.
      cgminer ex: cgminer.exe --scrypt -o localhost:15678 -u **yourusername** -p **password** (without **)

http://www.earthcoin.biz/earthcoin_branding_logo3.png

* The developer is here to stay - he's one of the dev's behind one of the most popular
alts and has been down this road before. Second time to market with a proper team
usually means great things to come.

* The things that matter most for all involved have been taken as a priority - Pools/Miners
are going to love this, end users/investors/speculators are going to love this, the lifecycle
will (hopefully) be long with many incentives along the way to help ensure it sticks around.

* Branding and marketing are being taken seriously, who knows where this ends up or how
far we go - we don't want to be caught off guard, called a jokecoin/scamcoin, or have a
quick run and that's it.

We're extremely excited to actually see the project officially be put into the communities hands
and see what happens with it.

Thank you kindly in advance bitcointalk, miners, pools, people, patient wives (lol), for joining
us on this exciting journey into unchartered waters - let's meet for a drink on the moon in 2014!

(SH*T HAPPENS CLAUSE - I ALWAYS PUT THESE, because just when you're about 99% done
your fancy new project, SH*T HAPPENS! Hoping we're smooth sailing from here though)

Feel free to ask questions, drop feedback. There's only two of us doing online support for this, and
it IS the crazy season IRL - so we'll do our best to try to juggle and be here as needed.

Let's go!

well i don't have an AMD, just an old nvidia and i'm very new to crypto currency
i mined a few scrypt coins and was on Doge start, and i made around 28000 Doges, not runing
24/7, so it was cool to start to understand this new thing for me.
i was thinking that if i start mining at day one on a new coin, even with my crappy gpu, i will receive
1000 or 2000 coins. much sad not wow
i don't like wasting electricity, i waited for the launch, european time, then go sleeping
i wake up, and i have 178 coins....lol wtf...
new gpu is comming in january, to have at least 300 khash/s and start playing this game a little more

Imho it is crowd psychology of the newcomers that flew into altcoin world last few days-weeks + recent booms of alts. People learned that despite of what coin represents itself it can easy jump in price when masses come into it. Dogecoin is a purest example of that and I think that doge dev created it just for test this theory and he and many people from this forum that noticed his intentions are more reacher right now thanks to money of new "fishes" (sorry for name) in the sea that swallowed the hook.

EarthCoin is a good name. Logo looks great. The developer/promoter has a good marketing and a big following. All good points. I want to believe the good intentions, but the pump/promote business cryptoboomer is does not sit well with the 2% premine. That will be over 60% - 70% of all supply by the time it hits an exchange. A bit hard for me to get over that.

I would like to petition the devs to destroy 70% - 80% of the premined coins. That would prove their intentions without a doubt to me. Please join me in that.

With no original (technology/ feature wise) ideas in all those coins, the name, logo, community, general appeal and marketing is all the differentiation we get.

And EarthCoin has a great chance to excel in all of those. Devs, please let's not destroy the community and the chance the coin have and prove your intentions with your actions.

I do not want them to destroy the coins... that is a waste of resources... instead offer 10,000,000 coins to someone to develop a working iphone app, another 10,000,000 for an android app, 100,000,000 for a team to put together a working e-wallet, etc and etc... put those coins to use now and by the time EAC hits the exchange, the coin can be a real and usable currency.

I also feel like this would be an excellent way to use the pre-mined coins and also to show people that those coins are there for good reason.

There seems to be something wrong with either this coin or scryptmining.net server.

If you look at the last blocks found ...they are ALL a) in red, indicating higher than 100% b) on average 1000-1500% !!!

That is insane. Other pools seem to also have mostly red statistics on block %, with very little green to be found.

Anyone care to clear this up?

I'm a bit new to mining, only 2 weeks but I maintain 4Mh so that's respectable for a small timer...  That said I learned with DOGECOIN not to join pools early on... too much red, to many bugs, DDOS, etc...  The first few hours are worth the most on a new coin if you decide to mine.  That said, my 4Mh has solo mined 8 blocks, so I'm 400k into the black for what that's worth.

Not saying pools are scams, but my math was a bit fuzzy on them... as for established coins.. i.e. Litecoins, I always use a big pool.

I don't understand why everyone is losing their @^$@% over the premine.

by my calculations over 14 million coins will be produced / day on average.

for the devs to stash away 2 weeks worth of coins will not be a lot in the long run. in 1 year they will have less than 5% of the total currency in circulation, that's if they kept all the coins. assuming they distribute some significant rewards in the meantime for developing the project, this all seems quite reasonable to me.

while it is a lot and will hold back the value early due to half the coins in circulation being controlled by devs at exchange listing time, none of this means the coin cannot be successful.

eventually once all this ridiculousness ends, coins with marketable names will be the strongest ones.

not saying the devs aren't just going to dump on the market if/when it gets listed, I know I would, but if you look at the math sometimes people are going a little overboard with the premine talk. you would have to premine at least 100 million coins to start with if your coin produces 14 million a day on average otherwise you will have too little to fund development down the road.

id say 250/270 million premine or whatever it is isn't completely outside of the reasonable box.
