Good news, everyone!
The hacker (a bit of a misnomer, as he has pointed out) returned 50 BTC, and I have just distributed it to affected users. Looks like the other 65 will be sent, too.
very good news! busoni that's the reason the market is frozen? when are you going to unfroze it?

Just saw a chat with RS on MCXNOW, and I don't think we will see XCP there anytime soon, if not ever. I won't even copy / paste what was mentioned, that was brutal.
Who's RS? RealSolid..owner And was so bad about XCP, that he didn't want to include it?

Can the BTC functionality be built into a client or counterwallet? Wouldn't you just need an interface where the protocol can tell the client where to send dividends etc? If this functionality could be added I think it would help enormously.
+1 Yes. Great idea. I will add this feature in BoottleXCP: I just add Phase 3 here : https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,134.msg932/topicseen.html#msg932This is the kind of thing that, if it's to be done, should be implemented at the level of counterpartyd. I'll add the functionality to the backend, and you can just call create_dividend as you normally would (albeit with an extra argument), alright? Yes alright!!

This is ideal, since now a user has the option to buy an asset with BTC and also receive their dividend in BTC. One extension that could be interesting (not sure how difficult it would be to implement) would be to have an asset X, but the protocol can identify whether a user purchased X using BTC or XCP. If BTC was used, dividends are issued in BTC; if XCP was used, dividends are issued in XCP. What do people think, is this a useful feature? Is it possible to implement? If we issue all assets, dividends and fees in BTC. I am not sure what is the purpose of XCP or what value it will have.

Wow, didn't expect so many hurdles. I'll see what I can do to make this smoother in the future. Out of curiosity, what reason does Norton give?
Not your fault. I could turn off that smartscreen crap if I wanted, but since I deal with my BTC/XCP on this computer I have everything turned up to be on the safe side. So maybe I shouldn't complain LOL. Norton says: Very few users, very new as reasons. Well DUH!! lol Just to follow up on this, after a constructive discussion with xnova and Jah, everything is ready to allow publication of future Windows builds on the official BoottleXCP github. This will provide a public audit trail and the ability to GPG-sign commits for tighter security. A little heads-up on this: Windows builds for BoottleXCP have now moved to GitHub. See https://forums.counterparty.co/index.php/topic,74.msg937.html#msg937Additional details on how to build this yourself (for those interested) will follow. Also, later at some point - when my schedule allows it, and if there are enough interested participants - i could organize an online hands-on training session on this topic.

Does anyone else get the feeling this might be the same hacker who raped Darkcoin? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5398601#msg5398601If you look at the price now though, it is quite a bit lower, ranging from 0.001 to 0.0014 depending on the market. What happened? One of the exchanges on which DRK trades (C-CEX) had a malfunction/hack which allowed a user to gain access to hundreds of BTC for free, which he couldn't cash out. He figured out that by buying DarkCoin, he could then transfer it out of the exchange easily, this caused a huge spike in buys since he put in around 300 BTC worth and bought up all DarkCoins up until 0.0075 BTC or 7.5 millibits. He then proceeded to transfer all those coins to another exchange (Poloniex) and started dumping as much as possible, as quickly as possible, with no regard for price. This caused a chain reaction which lasted for around 4 days. At first the coin recovered admirably to the dumps, staying very close to its regular price after a few dumps. After two days though, the price couldn't hold up anymore and we suspect that a lot of very early adopters started getting scared and began dumping as well.
Through some investigation and through a mixture of guilt, the "hacker" (who claims he actually isn't a hacker and the BTC simply appeared due to a mistake), came back and contacted the right people to start giving back the BTC he had taken from the exchange, since a lot of other people were affected and had their funds frozen. Of course he had lost a lot of value by filling very cheap buy orders for DRK so he can't possibly give it all back but the important thing is the dumps are stopped now and the coin has stabilized again. It has found solid ground and is starting to rise again. This rise will be fueled by the 3rd DarkSend alpha test which is happening tomorrow and after that, the developer (eduffield) has said that the beta will come soon as the code is very solid.
Looks incredibly similar to what happened to XCP.

I thought paying dividends in btc was quite complicated and expensive - that is one of the reasons for the existence of xcp Regarding callable assets ( I think you are referring to derivatives here) I am really looking forward to it

Thanks for the reply. In their twitter page some delays are mentioned..still waiting You can check on the progress by searching for your deposit address at blockscan.com After 3 block confirmations of the BTC transaction that sent the XCP, your XCP will then get swept into the main Poloniex address 15vA2MJ4ESG3Rt1PVQ79D1LFMBBNtcSz1f. http://www.blockscan.com/address.aspx?q=15vA2MJ4ESG3Rt1PVQ79D1LFMBBNtcSz1fShortly after you find your deposit has been swept into this address, it will be in your trading account.
