Why not post this VBCoin under its own thread in the [ANN] section. It will bring more exposure to VBCoin and also serve to demonstrate the capabilities of the protocol.

I planned on doing that in the next week or so, when I've amassed a solid plan. As of right now this is a just an ephemeral idea, with an issued asset and some graphics; one that has been met with vehement opposition, for unknown reasons...

This would work much better once we have the web wallet.

Once XCP is more accessible to the mass, many IPOs and crowdfunding projects can easily be done without the high fees.

When I tried to send XCP this pops out:

Code:
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

What process? Any idea? I just updated counterpartyd to the newest version. Server is running and already updated. Anybody had similar issue?

Reindexing bitcoind and installing fresh counterpartyd didn't resolve my problem. What process is it mentioned? how to find out and turn it down?

Seems like maybe the way you went about it. Several people offered polite constructive criticism. I think the "unknown reasons" are only unknown to you.

The sarcasm and unconstructive criticism are what I'm referring to, and unknown of course referring to the fact that there were few relevant points raised as made clear by my responses.

I tried a few things, but could not reproduce that error message.
Did you wait until Counterparty finish parsing up to the latest blocks?

Here's what always works for me so far.
1. Restart system
2. Start bitcoin-qt and wait until it syncs to the latest block
3. Start Counterparty and wait until it catches up to the latest block
4. Try to run the send command

Remember if you want your own theme included you can donate to JahPowerBits development fund and request any theme style you can think of. You can send me descriptions, links, pictures, etc to get your idea across.
Thanks everyone![/b]

Nice one! Just sent you guys 0.25 BTC.

Thanks!
PM me with your ideas and I can put your theme on my worklist.

Very nice, and I plan to donate too, but just one question: will all those themes make the final app installer huge? Or are they pretty light?

Actually no, the background image is compressed pretty well and the rest is mostly css changes, so no extra images than what I already have.

I'm not a big fan of the theme. The background is really ... meh. And you strange logos should be an a sperate page, it looks like a crackers group release instead of a serious "coin"

Look at what they did for the Masterchest Wallet. I don't say you should copy it but it's way simplier with clean fonts (no fancy scifi fonts like you used. Try to stick to fonts like the popular helvetica neue or some open source fonts.)

I'm "sort of" graphic designer. If you cant I can make quick drafts for a layout that could be cleaner, would it be useful for you ? I could design a custom minimalist skin. I have no idea however of the type of docs you need (png images ? how to divide?) PM me if thik I can help.

Thanks for the work anyway !

I understand these themes will not appeal to everyone, but that background image was suggested by our donator. If you have ever been to the caribbean that image might remind you of your time spent there. I think it is a beautiful image. This is not the default theme, you can scroll back a few (15ish) pages to see the default style. Again, this is a thanks to a generous donator.
The default theme allows you to customize the colors of all elements to your choosing.

I've got a handle on the graphic design thanks! Do appreciate the offer though. This GUI is a lot of javascript so its not really about graphics (there are not really many images, its all code except for the graphical themes for donators). Using images for all the elements would severely limit us in terms of colors, customization and filesize. I think my original design has a good compromise between cleanliness and aesthetic appeal. And, as counterparty is cutting edge technology I feel that the font should relate that. If a majority of people don't like it, it can be changed but I think it suits the system quite well.
It should be noted that there is also a lot of animations so all though the menu looks quite plane it will be fun to use.

MightyX,

What donation size is required to create a theme and is there a plain white or dark gray/black theme yet?

Thanks.

Is this just a PSD mockup or are there functional UI's?
css, js etc?

Is there a way to release template to community to work on their own skins?

JahPowerBit has plans to convert it into a standalone app. Until then you will have full access to the code (its basically just a webpage) so you can tinker around with things. All though I don't recommend this for most users if you are just changing background images then by all means.
That image was a PSD mockup which is a modification of the original theme mockup I did. I mentioned that some elements had or will have been changed before the final product because of font-changes, code problems, etc.
This is how I work. It would be more work to actually code the new theme into the site just to see if the donator likes it.

This is the functional GUI (coded) complete with color selectors for the elements:

If JahPowerBit agrees we can release it to a few forum members to test out. You will need to request a build from him though.
I understand you may not trust me (I commend you for that) but there were some things out of my control.
JahPowerBit is optimizing the system:
Quote
JahPowerBit: When you finished the V1 of your design, i will rewrite all the javascript/css, to have only one requirement: jquery. It's a lot of work, but it's worth, and it will be more secure.
Also my continued addition of elements and new themes is stretching our time frame  Lips sealed

I send JahPowerBit a build almost every night of my progress before I go to sleep.
He has already payed me for my work from the bounty funds.
You can be sure he didn't pay me until he saw work from me.
The developers trust him, and he trusts me.
Have I satisfied your trust now?  Grin

MightyX,

What donation size is required to create a theme and is there a plain white or dark gray/black theme yet?

Thanks.

All donations go to JahPowerBit but honestly if it was me doing the work (which it is  Wink) I'd rather not work for less than .1 btc.
This is not so much a business of building themes for profit, but as a way of thanks for supporting development of the counterparty protocol.

As I mentioned previously, the flat colors allow customization of all elements (Background, menu, borders, text, etc).
So you could create a white/red or grey/black theme. The theme selections will be set colors.

...
Is there a way to release template to community to work on their own skins?

Sorry, yes this is a possibility, we could create a theme that looks for a jpg in the image folder called "Background.jpg" and uses that as the main background image. So you could change that image to whatever you want. But this would not give you full control of logo/menu image colors or transparencies. But I suppose if you do what I do then it's not that hard.

This would be neat because it would spawn a theme modding community with people trading themes back and forth.
I like it, but lets see what JahPowerBit says.
He and I have a lot on our plate so it may be frivolous at this point in time.
It is obviously easier said than done as a system would have to be included that looks in a specific file for a list of themes and then uses each line in the list as a variable for a file-tree structure (where to look) for certain files. This is not hard per say but I'm starting to take on more than I can chew in terms of workload. Lets keep that idea on the backburner.

Thank you TheMightyX, your job is great!

I'm also not a fan of photos in background, but the idea of TheMightyX is precisely that everyone can have the interface he like! and it's a great idea i think.

And yes everyone can modify the interface as it wants. Just know to code in html/css/javascript.
https://github.com/JahPowerBit/counterpartygui
I gladly accepted pull request. But the code should be very clean because I have to check each line.

Any idea why I am unable to place an order for xcp in poloniex? I have bitcoin in there and when I place an order it says the order is placed, but nothing happens after that i.e. nothing is deducted and my open orders are still empty.

This thread is for XCP related news, we are not doing poloniex user support here, thanks. You have a problem with Poloniex ? Open a ticket there. I know, this sounds crazy...
