while we're at it, i seem to can't access my old counterwallet... i ceated it before may 8th so i tried both with and without "old" in front of the passphrase. it shows me three empty addresses, i had 4, one with quite a few xcp and btc, i also had about 3 assets created. can someone help me with this?
You tried it at old.counterparty.co? Not sure if still active, but might work.

is this a joke?

edit: ok i guess you meant old.counterwallet.co. thanks but no that doesn't work, says no servers connect.

Please send me you passphrase by email (ouziel@counterparty.co) I will send you private keys to sweep in the new wallet.

Come be a part of bitcoin history:

Bet on the opening match of the Brazil 2014 world cup between Brazil and Croatia.

The match will start in a few hours and you have the time to get to know the new decentralized way to make user based bets on the bitcoin blockchain.

The match will demonstrate our automatic system and failsafes - the result of the match will be displayed on XBet.IO with streaming live updates.

Minutes after the match is over, users will have the chance to report if XBet.IO has made a mistake and displayed the wrong result. If a line is reported. it must go through manual authorization, and until that happens, a result will not be broadcasted and the funds will be held in escrow by the bitcoin network.

If you haven't tried it out before, here is our 1 minute demonstration:

Ok, I have started a Bitcoin Difficulty feed from address

1ADigCqe5tWXBXcM1V82oWaXRNW2wUpXUS

I will attempt to update the feed within 24 hours of every bitcoin difficulty change.  I will definitely try to automate this feed in the future when I get a full counterpartyd installation set up, but I'm doing it manually from Counterwallet now.  So it would be best not to make your bet dates cut too close to the actual change dates -- give it a couple of days Smiley

I tried to make a bet from within Counterwallet, but it doesn't pull anything up when I input the feed address.  Is it possible to make a bet using your own feed?  I was going to try to seed it with some small bets Smiley

Can anybody walk me through the process of enabling betting on this feed?  I would like for people to be able to bet continuously on the Bitcoin difficulty, and choose their own expiration dates.  E.g. somebody wants to bet that the difficulty will be over X amount by September 1.  If September 1 passes and the difficulty has never reached X or higher, he will lose the bet.  If difficulty reaches X or higher anytime before September 1, he will win the bet.  Of course, he would have to make the bet and then somebody else would have to take the other side of it.

I am using counterwallet, and unfortunately a full counterpartyd installation is not possible for me right now.

Nobody?

To enable betting on your feed in Counterwallet, you must broadcast an url that describes the feed in json format.
Documentation and examples available here: https://wiki.counterparty.co/w/Enhanced_Feed_Info_in_Counterwallet
For Bitcoin difficulty you want to use CFD feed, so users can bet Bear or Bull on it.

Ok, thanks.

Kind of disappointing that it must be a URL and not live entirely within the XCP protocol.  I understand the need/desire for metadata, but there are some bets that are fairly simple and IMO should be able to fit within the constraints of a simple Text Label and Value pair, given that certain metadata (date/timestamp etc.) is embedded by nature of the protocol anyway.  Also, the need to specify an end date or recurring interval is kind of iffy for Bitcoin Difficulty, since each interval could be anywhere from 10 to 16 days, although generally it has been in the 11-13 day range lately.

You right. It's on our todo list to manage feed address without json url. We have not yet defined the text broadcast format.

You must define the deadline before the bet, but you can broadcast the result after the deadline when the difficulty changes.

A concern about the 0.2 mBTC fees:

I'm very impressed by XCP. I've issued shares and made some bets in Counterwallet (for testing) and all works well. As I've understood, every action made in XCP is actually a transaction in BTC. Some metadata is embedded in the BTC transaction, which then can be interpreted by any XCP client. The cost of any action is 0.2 mBTC, it seems. That's only about $0.12, but after placing several bets, canceling some of them, etc it really adds up.

My questions:
1. Is the above description correct?
2. Why is the fee 0.2 mBTC? Isn't the the new standard 0.01 mBTC per kB?
3. May another XCP wallet implement a lower fee?

Deadline shouldn't be required for a CFD type feed?

Cross-posted from official forums:

Attention: v9.24.2 of counterpartyd fixes a bug in the version checking function, so all users are required to upgrade their counterpartyd to the latest version manually, or they run the risk of running an old, incompatible version without being warned about it.

Also, I just pushed v9.25.0 to develop. This update has a lot of goodies packed into it, including the removal of the issuance fee for all issuances after the first, and the inclusion of the ability to change the amount of BTC sent along with any other asset on a per-tx basis (which feature will soon be integrated into Counterwallet). Also, now orders that compose expired order matches will rematch other orders as appropriate. This should improve the liquidity of the BTC distributed exchange measurably. All of these protocol changes go live with block 310000 on mainnet; they are retroactive on testnet (as usual). We're going to test these improvements out over the next couple of days, and merge the updates into master soon. Please see the CHANGELOG and the commit log for details.

Even bigger, more dramatic changes are on their way soon: totally new, completely revolutionary functionality for Counterparty and Counterwallet that everyone will be able to benefit from and use. Stay tuned! Smiley
