Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

No I think its just more interest in this coin. A multi pool like multipool.us or middlecoin will add atleast 10ghash? And then dont switch to new coins.

Well, within 1, yes ONE minute, the network hash went up 2 gh/s, so I am guessing we are...
<edit> OK, sorry, I excaggerated a bit...
21:01:52  { "blocks" : 25071, "currentblocksize" : 0, "currentblocktx" : 0, "difficulty" : 6.96259603, "errors" : "", "generate" : false, "genproclimit" : -1, "hashespersec" : 0, "networkhashps" : 1589940040, "pooledtx" : 1, "testnet" : false }
21:04:11  { "blocks" : 25080, "currentblocksize" : 0, "currentblocktx" : 0, "difficulty" : 15.64629606, "errors" : "", "generate" : false, "genproclimit" : -1, "hashespersec" : 0, "networkhashps" : 3513742739, "pooledtx" : 2, "testnet" : false }
so a bit more than 2 minutes actually, but still, must be a multipool... </edit>

.....how is it possible 0.7GH/s this morning and 2.4GH/s now..... ? It's because of coinwarz really...when the diff drops you get near the top, then you get hammered until the diff is higher and you drop down the order again.

Is there a problem with the Mac wallet? I'm getting an error when I open it "SmartCoin-Qt cannot be opened because of a problem". I'm on OSX 10.9.1. Thanks in advance for any help.

What does it mean when the hashing rate goes up this fast? Do the coins get consolidated to the ones that are providing this big spike in hashing rate? I.e. the little guy gets less coins? I'm not a miner, just a speculator/investor so apologies if it's a silly question.

Not sure when they'll get it fixed though.
