There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Sorry for the language and outburst.

It's okay, I realized I didn't really give a warning. You have 2 more days to claim your coins!

What is the problem?

Figured out if you follow first few steps off Github then when you download wallet it will run ok on OSX.

OS X

SmartCoin is configured to be compiled through Homebrew on OS X.

1.  Download Brew, just Google it and easy to do.

2.  Using Terminal, use commands:
brew install boost openssl berkeley-db4 miniupnpc qt
brew link berkeley-db4 --force && brew link openssl --force

It should then work.  Check the Smartcoin github and scroll down for easier to read version.

Spent two hours mining on smc.hash.so and NOTHING found, ZERO coins. What a waste.

Someone is DDOSing the stratum on http://smc.cryptopools.com but it worked great when it was up.
