Hi,
Vertcoin looks very interesting. Just had a read up on it and would like to have a go at mining it, but im not to sure how. I normally use Guiminer for mining LTC as its simple to use. This can not be used for Vertcoin? Only the modified cgminer can be used for mining?

The settings I use on other scrypt coins give me massive HWs too. What I ended up with was 8192 thread concurrency, I 13, and 2 gpu threads. That is working pretty darn well with no HW.
Oddly enough, disabling crossfire, restarting and enabling again seems to have resolved the issue. Everything I mentioned previously works now, no crashing. I'd like to know if anyone has had any luck at all with the Sapphire 290X Tri-X and what their settings are?

Seems someone is ddosing vertcoin pools Yep. vtcpool.co.uk holding up no problem. Yes, it does seem OK. It's why we haven't advertised the past week - it's OK at it's current size, but the move to the new dedicated servers will allow us to start growing again while still being able to shrug off these attacks.

Hey guys, check out VertcoinMarket.com the very first Vertcoin crowdfunding site. Right now it is focused on projects that help to raise awareness for Vertcoin and build the ecosystem. I will make a proper announcement tomorrow. If you want to actively help to spread the word about Vertcoin get involved or simply donate some VTC. We have quite a small army of people who work on the ecosystem. If you have any VTC related idea and look for support or funding, come over to join us. Just sent something to the Press Release project! (Well all that was left in my wallet actually - more to follow.) Excellent initiative! Love it!

So I was trying my first attempt at solo mining today and kept getting the following message: Pool 0 not providing work fast enough Any ideas what I've done (or not done)? You need to use stratum protocol, not getwork. Solo mining is not profitable even at todays difficulty (around 110). To solo mine you should have at least 5% of the network hashrate, which is ~150MH/s. If you have hashrate lower than that you should join a pool to offset changing difficulty.

How do I change to stratum? The VTC profit calc said I should find a block about every 4-5 days with a diff of 120. I'm okay with that.

Please remember that this number is an avarage, this means you might also find a block in 10 min. You could, however, be trying to find a block for 10 years too but without succes. That's why i'd suggest to use a pool, just because you'll be getting payouts on a regular basis.

all this talk of dumping coins causing the coin to fail is nonsense. it is only a fail if you are not in it to work with the coin. if you all dump your coins when it is falling and wait to grab them back at the bottom it causes the value to go back up and this up and down motion is what attracts speculators to invest their fiat currency they worked all week to get, into the market, kinda like a pool party with lots of laughter and splashing around indicates a fun party that everyone wants in on. Just if you dump be sure to buy back (and get more coins in the long run) your coins and the market will only get stronger and stronger That will take this inventive coin to the top over ltc and bring it nearly on par if not more so than bitcoin.
