Question about paper wallet generator.

Ok so I wanted to test out the usefulness of using a cold storage wallet but I wanted to make sure everything works before I dump everything into it (never tried a paper wallet before). I used the paper wallet generator, i then opened a word document and pasted the private key and wallet address and saved it on an external hard drive. Just to check if it worked I went into my wallet on the vertcoin application and sent 5 VC to the paper wallet address. It said sent successfully so now i've been trying to look up the paper wallet address in the crypto explorer but it keeps coming up that the wallet address doesn't exist?
So then i said ok how about i try importing the private key into the vertcoin app, so i went to the debug window and went to console and typed it importprivkey privatekey and pressed enter and that still doesn't work..

Did i just throw away 5 vertcoins?

Did you unlock the wallet first?

You need to do:

walletpassphrase your-passphrase-here 120

Where the 120 sets how many seconds to keep the wallet unlocked for (so you can add another private key), so you can set it longer or shorter if you like, but 2 minutes should do. Importing private keys does take a while though, so if you're on a laptop or slower machine, maybe set it to 180 or 240.

Then you do

importprivkey your-private-key-from-paper-wallet-here

and it'll import.

Afterwards, either close and reopen the wallet, or press ctrl-E, so you clear the history of your wallet passphrase from the debug window.

After adding a private key like this, your previous wallet.dat backup _will not_ contain the new private key, so you should do a fresh wallet backup, otherwise if your wallet got corrupted the new key(s) would be lost.

That totally worked thanks Smiley

https://moolah.ch/ is adding us to their merchant platform and we should be live tomorrow. This enables easy, fast VTC stores to be created, and makes the first VTC ATM not so far away - see https://moolah.ch/atm

Thanks Moolah!

That is awesome! Hope to see one IRL some time!

It is definitely worth the effort IMO. There is great support behind this coin. The dev is involved and active. The advantages of this coin over others is clear. I am beyond excited about Vertcoin. This could really be something big. Besides even at these stupid low prices it is one of the more profitable coins to mine not that I am gonna sell. Thinking of cashing out some other coins to get more right now. Keep up the good ideas everyone. We may really be on to something here.

Please consider joining everyone at www.vertcointalk.org

This bitcointalk thread is great and will continue to serve a purpose, but we really need to expand growth to the Vertcoin forum. Whenever a potential miner, investor, retailer, journalist, etc hears about VTC, one of the first places they might hit after finding the VTC homepage, is the forum. Being able to easily review subtopics and posts, community involvement, enthusiasm, etc is VERY IMPORTANT from a PR and credibility standpoint, and this 240+ page continuous thread may not be the ideal venue for that. I have contacted the VTC website admin, so hopefully they will add the forum link to the homepage soon.

So please sign up and utilize the forum if you would like to keep this train moving forward! Grin

I have also contacted the Vertcoin.org website admin in hopes that they will soon add a "VTC in the News" graphic on the homepage.
I realize that a "VTC Marketing Team" announcement may be coming this week so hopefully this will be addressed soon.

These 2 recent VTC news items are perfect examples of things we should be at least providing links to:

Watch this space. We are currently preparing a detailed development roadmap with key milestones and timescales. To give you an idea what is in the works, the top development priorities are an SPV client which will enable a proper, elegant Android solution (you need a thin client to do a mobile wallet, as otherwise you are trying to store a full blockchain on a mobile device and although that is currently possible it's not a long-term solution with a growing blockchain), and ZeroCoin/ZeroCash - an on-blockchain mixing and anonymization service.

We'll be releasing a detailed set of plans within the next few weeks, probably sooner.

Just wanted to share this awesome work by LukeMaxwell:
The logo was originally designed by khanwaltman.

http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/1xem60/id_like_to_offer_my_services_to_help_spruce_up/

can anybody create a additional button with "We Support Vertcoin" or ""Supporting Vertcoin" oder something similar ?

Hey gonzzo,

I just threw them together really fast for you and added them to the zipped files.

www.lukemaxwell.info/files/logos.7z
(both of these files are the same content, just different zipped file format)

Enjoy,

Im mining almost 2 weeks 24/7 no problem with 290 cards. One week I was pushing -I 20 even. Could be a current surge due to a bad psu / bad house wiring.

The same here mining Vert is even less demanding than other coins for my cards and they are cooler

What is the fastest card for mining Vert? Does any of you achiever 500KH per card ( r9 290X OC ?)

Azure Vertcoin Pool

DDOS reisistant P2Pool Node

http://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171/

To connect to this P2Pool node simply point your miner at:

URL: stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171
Username: Your vertcoin address
Password: Anything

Sample configuration

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171 -u VbNPoxNeiNg6Bj9RwjjS4GazDbKLgUqNDP -p X

Fast facts

1. P2Pool nodes are all part of one single, big, distributed pool
2. When any p2pool worker on any node finds a block, everyone on all the nodes gets paid their share
3. There is no pool wallet, and hence no payout threshold. Payments go directly to your wallet
4. The distributed nature of p2pool resists DDoS attacks

Decentralize the hashrate!

Yay! I finally got 6 VTCs after mining for about 12 hours. It seems really tough to mine, I've a 3 x 280X setup going at a total of around 1000 to 1200 KH/s.

Just wanted to share a little joy after I didn't get a single block after 8 hours!

ZeroCoin/ZeroCash - an on-blockchain mixing and anonymization service.

Is this for real? A lot of coins has promised this over the past year, and we have yet to see anything concrete. I know Zerocoin was discussed heavily at Feathercoin, but it was deemed to be too complicated and unwieldy.

If you can show some proof that it is viable I will invest big. I want to know if you have actually looked into it or somebody just told you he will implement it.
